The Lord chose Jacob. {\cf2\super [626]} \par Israel belongs to God.\par


The Lord will not leave his people.\par He will not leave them without help.\par


At that time, my Master (God) will again reach out and take his people that are left. This will be the second time God has done this. \{(These are God’s people that are left in countries like Assyria, North Egypt, South Egypt, Ethiopia, Elam, Babylonia, Hamath, and all the faraway countries around the world.)


\{In the future,\} the Lord will again show his love to Jacob. The Lord will again choose the people of Israel. \{At that time,\} the Lord will give those people their land. Then non-Jewish people {\cf2\super [146]} will join themselves to the Jewish people. Both people will join and become one family—Jacob’s family.


\{Tell me the answers to these questions:\}\par Who woke the man \{that is coming\}\par from the east?\par Goodness walks with him.\par He uses his sword \{and defeats nations\}—\par they become like dust.\par He uses his bow and conquers kings—\par they run away like straw blown\par by the wind.\par


“Look at my Servant!\par I support him.\par He is the one I chose.\par And I am very pleased with him.\par I put my Spirit in him.\par He will judge the nations fairly.\par


“Jacob, you are my servant. Listen to me! Israel, I chose you. Hear the things I say!


I do these things for my servant, Jacob.\par I do these things for my chosen people, Israel.\par \{Cyrus,\} I am calling you by name.\par You don’t know me,\par but I am calling you by name.\par


The Lord said, “I love you people.”


People will come from the east, west, north, and south. They will sit down at the table in the kingdom of God.


Why? Because you are different from other people. You are the Lord’s special people. From all the people in the world, the Lord your God chose you to be his own special people.


Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! God chose the poor people in the world to be rich with faith. He chose them to receive the kingdom God promised to people who love him.


And they all sang a new song \{to the Lamb\}:


“But the Lord won’t leave his people. No, the Lord was pleased to make you his own people. So, for his own good name, he won’t leave you.
