9 The faces of the people show that they are guilty of doing wrong. And they are proud of their sin. They are like the people of Sodom {\cf2\super [31]} —they don’t care who sees their sin. It will be very bad for them. They have brought much trouble to themselves.

The Lord knew that the people of Sodom were very evil sinners.


The next day, the older daughter said to the younger daughter, “Last night I went to bed with my father. Let’s get him drunk with wine again tonight. Then you can go into his bed and have sex with him. In this way we can use our father to have children and our family will not come to an end.”


But the Lord did not accept Cain and his offering. Cain was sad because of this, and he became very angry.


Jehu went to Jezreel, and Jezebel heard the news. She put her makeup on and fixed her hair. Then she stood by the window and looked out.


Bad people are too proud to follow God.\par They make all their evil plans.\par And they act like there is no God.\par


If a person refuses to learn, then he is only hurting himself. But the person who listens when someone tells him he is wrong, will understand more and more.


Some people think they are very good. They think they are much better than other people.


But the person who sins against me\par hurts himself.\par All people who hate me love death!”\par


You leaders of Sodom, listen to the Lord’s message! You people of Gomorrah, listen to God’s teachings!


The Lord says, “The women in Zion {\cf2\super [33]} have become very proud. They walk around with their heads in the air, acting like they are better than other people. Those women flirt with their eyes. And they dance around making noise with their ankle bracelets.”


But evil people are like the angry ocean. They can’t be quiet and peaceful. They are angry, and like the ocean, they stir up mud. My God says,


Why? Because we have done many, many wrong things against our God.\par Our sins show we are wrong.\par We know we are guilty of doing these things.\par


You did bad things,\par and those bad things will only\par bring punishment to you.\par Trouble will come to you.\par And that trouble will teach you a lesson.\par Think about it!\par Then you will understand how bad it is\par to turn away from your God.\par It is wrong not to fear and respect me!”\par This message was from my Master,\par the Lord All-Powerful.\par


You sinned, so the rain has not come.\par There have not been any springtime rains.\par But still you refuse to be ashamed.\par The look on your face is like the look\par that a prostitute has when she\par refuses to be ashamed.\par You refuse to be ashamed of what you did.\par


The priests and prophets should\par be ashamed\par of the bad things they do.\par But they are not ashamed at all.\par They don’t know enough\par to be embarrassed of their sins.\par So they will be punished with everyone else.\par They will be thrown to the ground\par when I punish the people.”\par The Lord said those things.\par

You are so weak. You let all those men (countries) cause you to sin. You acted just like a domineering prostitute. {\cf2\super [125]} ” The Lord my Master said those things.


\{God said,\} “Your sister Sodom and her daughters were proud, they had too much to eat, and too much time on their hands. And they did not help poor, helpless people.


And I wanted to know about the ten horns that were on the fourth animal’s head. And I wanted to know about the little horn that grew there. That little horn pulled out three of the other ten horns. That little horn looked meaner than the other horns. And that little horn continued bragging.


“Israel, I helped you. But you turned against me. So now I will destroy you!


Israel’s pride is a witness against them. {\cf2\super [55]} So Israel and Ephraim will stumble in their sin. But Judah will also stumble with them.


When people sin, they earn what sin pays—death. But God gives his people a free gift—life forever in Christ Jesus our Lord.


The bodies of the two witnesses will lie in the street of the great city. This city is named Sodom {\cf2\super [84]} and Egypt. These names for the city have a special meaning. This is the city where the Lord was killed.


Samuel said, “Bring Agag, the king of the Amalekites, to me.”
