Isaiah 27:13 - Easy To Read Version

13 Many of my people are now lost in Assyria. {\cf2\super [255]} Some of my people have run away to Egypt. But at that time, a great trumpet will be blown. And all those people will come back to Jerusalem. Those people will bow down before the Lord on that holy mountain.

The king of Assyria took Samaria during the ninth year that Hoshea was king of Israel. The king of Assyria captured many Israelites and took them as prisoners to Assyria. He made them live in Halah by the Habor River at Gozan and in other cities of the Medes.


The priests Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer had the job of blowing trumpets \{as they walked\} in front of the Box of the Agreement. Obed Edom and Jehiah were the other guards for the Box of the Agreement.


The Lord goes up \{to his throne\}\par at the sound of the trumpet and horn.\par


Blow the ram’s horn\par at the time of the new moon, {\cf2\super [464]} \par Blow the ram’s horn\par at the time of the full moon. {\cf2\super [465]} \par when our holiday begins.\par


God, your loyal followers are truly happy.\par They live in the light of your kindness.\par

God will raise this “flag” as a sign for all people. The people of Israel and Judah were forced to leave their country. The people were scattered to all the faraway places on earth. But God will gather them together.


God’s people that are left will have a way to leave Assyria. It will be like the time God took the people out of Egypt.


\{Warn those people that something bad will happen to them.\} All the people in the world will see this thing happen to that nation. People will see this thing clearly like a flag raised on a mountain. All the people living on earth will hear about the thing that happens to these tall people. They will hear it clearly like the noise from a horn before a battle.


At that time, the people in Egypt will truly know the Lord. The people of Egypt will love God. The people will serve God and give many sacrifices. {\cf2\super [194]} They will make promises {\cf2\super [195]} to the Lord. And they will keep those promises.


The Lord will punish the people of Egypt. And then the Lord will heal (forgive) them, and they will come back to the Lord. The Lord will listen to their prayers and heal (forgive) them.


Proud people will stop being proud. Those proud people will bow down to the ground with shame. At that time, only the Lord will still stand high.


In the last days, the mountain of the Lord’s temple {\cf2\super [17]} will be on the highest of the mountains. It will be raised higher than all the hills. There will be a steady stream of people from all nations going there.


Many people will go there. They will say, “Come! Let’s go up to the Lord’s mountain. Let’s go up to the temple of the God of Jacob. Then God will teach us his way of living. And we will follow him.”


At that time, the Lord All-Powerful will give a feast for all the people on this mountain. At the feast, there will be the best foods and wines. The meat will be tender and good.


I will tell the north: Give my people to me! I will tell the south: Don’t keep my people in prison! Bring my sons and daughters to me from the faraway places!


The Lord, the Holy One of Israel,\par the Protector of Israel says,\par “My Servant is humble.\par He serves rulers.\par But people hate him.\par But, kings will see him,\par and stand \{to honor him\}.\par Great leaders will bow down to him.”\par


The Lord my Master said these things.


“Those people have evil thoughts and do evil things. So I am coming to punish them. I will gather all nations and all people. All people will come together and see my power.


All people will come to worship me on every worship day; they will come every Sabbath {\cf2\super [489]} and every first day of the month. {\cf2\super [490]}


There will be a time when watchmen {\cf2\super [245]} \par shout this message:\par ‘Come, let’s go up to Zion {\cf2\super [246]} \par to worship the Lord our God!’\par Even the watchmen in the hill country of Ephraim {\cf2\super [247]} will shout that message.”\par


Those people didn’t listen to the Lord. So all those people went to Egypt. They went to the town of Tahpanhes. {\cf2\super [349]}


Some people of Judah will escape being killed by the sword. They will come back to Judah from Egypt. But there will be very few people of Judah that escape. Then those survivors {\cf2\super [362]} of Judah that came to live in Egypt will know whose word will come true. They will know whether my word or their word came true.


I will bring you out of these other nations. I scattered you among these nations. But I will gather you together and bring you back from these countries. But I will raise my powerful arm and punish you. I will show my anger against you!


Then I will be pleased with the sweet smell of your sacrifices. That will happen when I bring you back. I scattered you among many nations. But I will gather you together and make you my special people again. And all those nations will see it.


So the Lord my Master says these things: “Now I will bring the family of Jacob back from captivity. I will have mercy on the whole family of Israel. I will show my strong feelings for my holy name.


They will come from Egypt\par shaking like birds.\par They will come shaking like doves\par from the land of Assyria.\par And I will take them back home.”\par The Lord said that.\par


The Israelites love sacrifices. {\cf2\super [82]} \par They offer the meat and eat it.\par The Lord does not accept their sacrifices.\par He remembers their sins.\par And he will punish them.\par They will be carried as prisoners to Egypt.\par


The Israelites will not stay in the Lord’s land. Ephraim will return to Egypt. In Assyria they will eat food that they should not eat.


On the Day of Atonement, [423] you must blow a ram’s horn. That will be on the tenth day of the seventh month. You must blow the ram’s horn through the whole country.


So rule your people with your rod.\par Rule the flock of people\par that belongs to you.\par That flock lives alone in the woods,\par and up on Mount Carmel.\par That flock lives in Bashan and Gilead\par like they did in time past.\par


Some of the people that came to fight Jerusalem will survive. And every year they will come to worship the king, the Lord All-Powerful. And they will come to celebrate the Festival of Shelters. {\cf2\super [34]}


The Lord All-Powerful says, “Look, I am rescuing my people from countries in the east and west.


“People all around the world respect my name. All around the world people bring good gifts to me. They burn good incense {\cf2\super [7]} as a gift to me. Why? Because my name is important to all those people.” The Lord All-Powerful said these things.


The Son of Man will use a loud trumpet to send his angels all around the earth. The angels will gather his chosen people from every part of the earth.


“The Spirit of the Lord (God) has come to me.\par God chose me to tell good news to people\par that are poor.\par God sent me to tell people who are\par prisoners that they are free,\par and to tell the blind people\par that they can see again.\par God sent me to free the weak people\par from their suffering\par


But I ask, “Did people not hear \{the Good News\}?” Yes, they heard—\{like the Scripture {\cf2\super [111]} says\}:


The Lord himself will come down from heaven. There will be a loud command. That command will be given with the voice of the archangel {\cf2\super [15]} and with the trumpet call of God. And the people who have died and were in Christ will rise first.


But you have not come to that kind of place. The new place you have come to is Mount Zion. {\cf2\super [165]} You have come to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. {\cf2\super [166]} You have come to an excited gathering of thousands of angels.


In the days when the seventh angel is ready to blow his trumpet, God’s secret plan will be finished. This plan is the Good News {\cf2\super [75]} God told to his servants, the prophets. {\cf2\super [76]} ”


And I saw the seven angels who stand before God. They were given seven trumpets.


Then the seven angels with the seven trumpets prepared to blow their trumpets.


The voice said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Free the four angels who are tied at the great river Euphrates.”
