Isaiah 17:6 - Easy To Read Version

6 That time will also be like the time people harvest olives. People knock olives from olive trees. But a few olives are usually left at the top of the tree. Four or five olives are left on some of the top branches. It will be the same for those cities. The Lord All-Powerful said those things.

{Elijah, you are not the only faithful person in Israel. Those men will kill many people. But, even after that,} there will still be 7,000 people living in Israel that never bowed down to Baal! I will let those 7,000 people live—and none of those people ever kissed a Baal idol.


\{This is true,\} but the Lord All-Powerful did allow a few people to continue living. We were not completely destroyed like the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. {\cf2\super [6]}


Your people are very many. They are like the sands of the sea. But only a few of the people will be left to come back to the Lord. Those people will return to God, but first, your country will be destroyed. God has announced that he will destroy the land. And then goodness will come into the land; it will be like a river flowing full.


At harvest time, people knock olives\par from olive trees.\par But, a few olives are left in the trees.\par It will be like that in this land\par among the nations.\par


At that time, the Lord will begin separating his people from others. He will begin at the Euphrates River. {\cf2\super [253]} The Lord will gather all his people from the Euphrates River to the River of Egypt. {\cf2\super [254]}


The Lord says these things:\par “The whole country will be ruined.\par (But I will not completely destroy the land.)\par


I will pour my Spirit onto the family of Israel. And after that time, I will never turn away from my people again.” The Lord my Master said those things.


I am upset because I am\par like fruit that has been gathered,\par like grapes that have already been picked.\par There are no grapes left to eat.\par There are none of the early figs\par that I love.\par


And that is how all Israel will be saved. It is written \{in the Scriptures {\cf2\super [125]} \}:


And Isaiah cries out about Israel {\cf2\super [91]} :


The Lord will scatter you among the nations. And only a few of you will be left alive to go to the countries where the Lord will send you.


But Gideon answered the men of Ephraim, “I have not done as well as you men have done. You people of Ephraim have a much better harvest than my family, the Abiezers. At harvest time, you leave more grapes in the field than my family gathers! Isn’t that true?
