1 You people should send a gift to the king of the land. You should send a lamb from Sela, through the desert, to the mountain of the Daughter of Zion. {\cf2\super [165]}
1 YOU [Moabites, now fugitives in Edom, which is ruled by the king of Judah] send lambs to the ruler of the land, from Sela or Petra through the desert and wilderness to the mountain of the Daughter of Zion [Jerusalem]. [II Kings 3:4, 5.]
David also defeated the people of Moab. At that time he forced them to lie on the ground. Then he used a rope to separate them into rows. Two rows of men were killed, but the whole third row was allowed to live. In that way, the people of Moab became servants of David. They paid tribute [53] to him.
Use this money to buy bulls, rams, and male lambs. Buy the grain offerings and drink offerings that go with those sacrifices. Then sacrifice them on the altar in the temple of your God in Jerusalem.
Deserts and cities, villages of Kedar, {\cf2\super [382]} \par praise the Lord!\par People living in Sela, sing for joy!\par Sing from the top of your mountain.\par
And you, Tower of Flocks, {\cf2\super [53]} \par your time will come.\par Ophel, hill of Zion,\par you will again be the seat of government.\par Yes, the kingdom will be in Jerusalem\par like it was in the past.”\par
