The king of Assyria took Samaria during the ninth year that Hoshea was king of Israel. The king of Assyria captured many Israelites and took them as prisoners to Assyria. He made them live in Halah by the Habor River at Gozan and in other cities of the Medes.


I have seen something very terrible\par that will happen.\par I see traitors {\cf2\super [205]} turning against you.\par I see people taking your wealth.\par


“I woke a person in the north. {\cf2\super [378]} \par He is coming from the east\par where the sun rises.\par He worships my name.\par A man that makes pots walks on wet clay.\par In the same way, this special man will trample (walk on) kings.”\par


I made all the kings from Zimri, Elam, and Media drink from the cup.


A nation from the north will attack Babylon.\par That nation will make Babylon\par like an empty desert.\par No people will live there.\par Both men and animals\par will run away from there.”\par


Babylon’s young men\par will be killed in the streets.\par All her soldiers will die on that day.”\par


Their armies have bows and spears.\par The soldiers are cruel.\par They have no mercy.\par The soldiers come riding on their horses,\par and the sound is loud like the roaring sea.\par They stand in their places, ready for battle.\par They are ready to attack you,\par city of Babylon.\par


I will bring many nations together\par from the north.\par This group of nations will get ready for war\par against Babylon.\par Babylon will be captured by people\par from the north.\par Those nations will shoot many arrows\par at Babylon.\par Those arrows will be like soldiers\par that don’t come back from war\par with their hands empty.\par


Sharpen the arrows!\par Get your shields!\par The Lord stirred up the kings\par of the Medes. {\cf2\super [418]} \par He has stirred them up\par because he wants to destroy Babylon.\par The Lord will give the people of Babylon\par the punishment that they deserve.\par The army from Babylon destroyed\par the Lord’s temple {\cf2\super [419]} in Jerusalem.\par So the Lord will give them\par the punishment they should have.\par
