6 From the bottom of your feet to the top of your head, every part of your body has wounds, hurts, and open sores. You have not cared for your sores. Your wounds are not cleaned and covered.

People really bragged about how good-looking Absalom was. No man in Israel was as handsome as Absalom. There was not a blemish on Absalom—from his head to his feet.


God puts bandages\par on the wounds he makes.\par He might injure someone,\par but his hands also heal.\par


My Master, I come to you\par when I have trouble.\par I reached out for you all night long.\par My soul refused to be comforted.\par


At that time, the light from the moon will be bright like the sun. The light from the sun will be seven times brighter than now. The light from the sun in one day will be like a full week. These things will happen when the Lord bandages his broken people and heals the hurts from their beatings.


“A person’s mind is very tricky!\par The mind can be very sick,\par and no person truly understands it.\par


The Lord says:\par “You people of Israel and Judah\par have a wound that can’t be cured.\par You have an injury that will not heal.\par


Israel and Judah, why are you yelling\par about your wound?\par Your wound is painful,\par and there is no cure for it.\par I, the Lord, did these things to you\par because of your great guilt.\par I did these things\par because of your many sins.\par

My people have been hurt very badly.\par The prophets and priests\par should bandage those wounds.\par But they treat those wounds\par like they are only a small scratch.\par They say,\par ‘It is all right, everything is fine!’\par But it is not all right!\par


A well keeps its water fresh.\par In the same way,\par Jerusalem keeps its wickedness fresh.\par I hear about the looting and violence\par in this city all the time.\par I see the pain and sickness in Jerusalem\par all the time.\par


Nineveh, you have been hurt badly, and nothing can heal your wound. Everyone who hears the news of your destruction claps his hands. They are all happy! Why? Because they all felt the pain you always caused!


“But, for my followers, goodness will shine on you like the rising sun. And it will bring healing power like the sun’s rays. You will be free and happy, like calves freed from their stalls. {\cf2\super [21]}

The Samaritan went to him and poured olive oil and wine {\cf2\super [196]} on his wounds. Then he covered the man’s wounds with cloth. The Samaritan had a donkey. He put the hurt man on his donkey, and he took him to an inn. At the inn, the Samaritan cared for him.
