1 So all of you should think about Jesus. God sent Jesus to us, and he is the high priest {\cf2\super [15]} of our faith. I tell you to think about him, my brothers and sisters, because God chose you to be his holy {\cf2\super [16]} people.

The Lord made a promise,\par and he will not change his mind.\par “You are a priest forever—\par the kind of priest Melchizedek was.”\par


A cow knows its master.\par And a donkey knows the place where its owner feeds it.\par But the people of Israel don’t know me.\par My people don’t understand.”\par


People will see these things,\par and they will know\par that the Lord’s power did this.\par The people will see these things,\par and they will begin to understand.\par that the Holy One (God) of Israel\par did these things.”\par


You party with your wine, harps, {\cf2\super [52]} drums, flutes, and other musical instruments. And you don’t see the things the Lord has done. The Lord’s hands have made many, many things—but you don’t notice those things. So, it will be very bad for you people.


So, Son of man, {\cf2\super [103]} pack your bags. Act like you are going to a faraway country. Do this so the people can see you. Maybe they will see you—but they are a very rebellious people.


That person saw how bad he was and came back to me. He stopped doing the bad things he did in the past. So he will live! He won’t die!”


Now, the Lord All-Powerful says, ‘Think about what is happening!


Think about the things that happened before today. Think about the time before you began working on the Lord’s temple. {\cf2\super [10]}


And this is eternal life: that people can know you, the only true God, and that people can know Jesus Christ, the One you sent.


Then Jesus said again, “Peace be with you! The Father sent me. In the same way, I now send you.”


Then Jesus said to Thomas, “Put your finger here. Look at my hands. Put your hand here in my side. Stop doubting and start believing.”


After a few days there was a meeting of the believers. (There were about 120 of them.) Peter stood up and said,


\{It is like\} some of the branches from an olive tree have been broken off, and the branch of a wild olive tree has been joined to that first tree. You non-Jews are the same as that wild branch, and you now share the strength and life of the first tree (the Jews).


\{The believers in\} Macedonia and Achaia were happy to do this. And really they should help those believers in Jerusalem. They should help because they are non-Jews and have shared in the Jews’ spiritual blessings. So they should use the things they have to help the Jews. They owe this to the Jews.


I tell you that Christ became a servant of the Jews to show that what God promises is true. Christ did this to prove that God will do the things he promised the Jewish fathers.


We are those people. We are the people God called (chose). God called us from the Jews and from the non-Jews.


To the church of God in Corinth, to those people that have been made holy {\cf2\super [2]} in Christ Jesus. You were called to be God’s holy people. You were called with all the people everywhere that trust in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ—their Lord and ours:


(There is one loaf of bread. And we are many people. But we all share from that one loaf. So we are really one body.)


I do all these things because of the Good News. {\cf2\super [61]} I do these things so that I can share in \{the blessings of\} the Good News.


Our hope for you is strong. We know that you share in our sufferings. So we know that you also share in our comfort.


This service you do is a proof \{of your faith\}. People will praise God because of this. They will praise God because you follow the gospel {\cf2\super [27]} of Christ—the gospel you say you believe. People will praise God because you freely share with them and with all people.


This is that secret truth: that the non-Jews will get the things God has for his people, the same as the Jews. The non-Jews are together with the Jews in the same body. And they share together in the promise that God made in Christ Jesus. The non-Jews have all these things because of the Good News. {\cf2\super [23]}


I am in prison because I belong to the Lord. And God chose you to be his people. I tell you now to live the way God’s people should live.


There is one body and one Spirit. And God called you to have one hope.


I keep trying to reach the goal and get the prize. That prize is mine because God called me through Christ to the life above.


and give thanks to the Father. He has made you able to have the things he prepared for you. He has prepared these things for all his people who live in the light (good).


But now Christ has made you God’s friends again. Christ did this by his death while he was in his body. Christ did this so that he could bring you before God. He brings you before God as people who are holy, {\cf2\super [6]} with no wrong in you, and with nothing that God can judge you guilty of.


God has chosen you and made you his holy people. {\cf2\super [18]} He loves you. So always do these things: Show mercy to people; be kind, humble, gentle, and patient.


We encouraged you, we comforted you, and we told you to live good lives for God. God calls you to his kingdom and glory.


I tell you by the authority (power) of the Lord to read this letter to all the brothers and sisters.


That is why we always pray for you. We ask our God to help you live the good way that he called you to live. The goodness you have makes you want to do good. And the faith you have makes you work. We pray that with his power God will help you do these things more and more.


God called you to have that salvation. He called you by using the Good News {\cf2\super [9]} that we told you. God called you so that you can share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.


Keeping your faith is like running a race. Try as hard as you can to win that race. Be sure you get that life that continues forever. You were called to have that life. And you confessed the great truth \{about Christ\} in a way that many people heard you.


Some slaves have masters who are believers. So those slaves and those masters are brothers. But the slaves should not show them any less respect. No! Those slaves should serve those believing masters even better. Why? Because those slaves are helping believers that they love.


God saved us and made us his holy people. {\cf2\super [6]} That happened not because of anything we did ourselves. No! God saved us and made us his people because that was what he wanted and because of his grace (kindness). That grace was given to us through Christ Jesus before time began.


Think about what I am saying. The Lord will help you understand it all.


And so, brothers and sisters, we are completely free to enter the Most Holy Place. {\cf2\super [133]} We can do this without fear because of the blood (death) of Jesus.


And we have a great priest who rules the house (people) of God.


We should hold strongly to the hope that we have. And we should never fail to tell people about our hope. We can trust God to do what he promised.


My brothers and sisters, I beg you to listen patiently to these things I have said. I said these things to strengthen you. And this letter is not very long.


The One (Jesus) who makes people holy {\cf2\super [12]} and those people who are made holy are from the same family. So he (Jesus) is not ashamed to call those people his brothers and sisters.


For this reason Jesus had to be made like us his brothers and sisters in every way. Jesus became like people so that he could be their merciful and faithful high priest {\cf2\super [14]} in service to God. Then Jesus could bring forgiveness for the people’s sins.


So, brothers and sisters, be careful that none of you is sinful, and refuses to believe, and stops following the living God.


We all share together with Christ. This is true if we continue until the end to have the sure faith we had in the beginning.


Jesus has already entered there and opened the way for us. Jesus has become the high priest {\cf2\super [52]} forever, the same as Melchizedek. {\cf2\super [53]}


So Jesus is the kind of high priest {\cf2\super [73]} that we need. He is holy. {\cf2\super [74]} He has no sin in him. He is pure and not influenced by sinners. And he is raised above the heavens.


The law chooses high priests who are people and have the same weaknesses as people. But God made a promise that came after the law. God spoke those words with a vow (promise), and those words made the Son of God to be the high priest. And that Son has been made perfect forever.


But Christ has already come to be the high priest. {\cf2\super [104]} He is the high priest of the good things we now have. But Christ does not serve in a place like the tent that those other priests served in. Christ serves in a place that is better than that tent. It is more perfect. And that place is not made by men. It does not belong to this world.


So Christ brings a new agreement {\cf2\super [108]} from God to his people. Christ brings this new agreement so that those people that are called by God can have the things that God promised. God’s people can have those things forever. They can have those things because Christ died to pay for the sins that people did under the first agreement. {\cf2\super [109]} Christ died to make people free from those sins.


But you are chosen people. You are the King’s priests. You are a holy {\cf2\super [20]} nation of people. You are people who belong to God. God chose you to tell about the wonderful things he has done. He called (brought) you out of darkness (sin) into his wonderful light.


It was the same with the holy {\cf2\super [22]} women who lived long ago and followed God. They made themselves beautiful in that same way. They were willing to serve their husbands.


Now I have something to say to the elders {\cf2\super [30]} in your group. I am also an elder. I myself have seen Christ’s sufferings. And I will share in the glory that will be shown to us. I beg you to


Yes, you will suffer for a short time. But after that, God will make everything right. He will make you strong. He will support you and keep you from falling. He is the God that gives all grace (kindness). He called you to share in his glory in Christ. That glory will continue forever.


Now we tell you the things that we have seen and heard. Why? Because we want you to have fellowship {\cf2\super [1]} together with us. The fellowship we share together is with God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ.


They will make war against the Lamb. But the Lamb will defeat them, because he is Lord of lords and King of kings. He will defeat them with his chosen and faithful followers—the people that he has called.”


Be happy because of this, O heaven!\par Be happy, God’s holy people {\cf2\super [134]} and apostles {\cf2\super [135]} and prophets {\cf2\super [136]} !\par God has punished her because of the things she did to you.’”\par
