Genesis 22:2 - Easy To Read Version

2 Then God said, “Take your son to the land of Moriah. At Moriah kill your son as a sacrifice [118] for me. This must be Isaac, your only son—the son you love. Use him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains there. I will tell you which mountain.”

God said, “No! I said that your wife Sarah will have a son. You will name him Isaac. [100] I will make my agreement with him. That agreement will be an agreement that continues forever with all his descendants. [101]


But God said to Abraham, “Don’t worry about the boy and the slave woman. Do what Sarah wants. Isaac will be your only heir. [115]


Sarah gave birth to a son, and Abraham named him Isaac. [113]


The angel said, “Don’t kill your son or hurt him in any way. Now I can see that you do respect and obey God. I see that you are ready to kill your son, your only son, for me.”

In the morning Abraham got up and saddled his donkey. Abraham took Isaac and two servants with him. Abraham cut the wood for the sacrifice. [119] Then they went to the place God told them to go.


They came to the place where God told them to go. There, Abraham built an altar. [123] Abraham laid the wood on the altar. Then Abraham tied his son Isaac. Abraham laid Isaac on the altar on the wood.


Then Noah built an altar [55] to the Lord. Noah took some of all the clean birds and some of all the clean animals, [56] and Noah burned them on the altar as a gift to God.


Then the king of Moab took his oldest son. This was the son who would become the next king after him. On the wall around the city, the king of Moab offered his son as a burnt offering. This upset the people of Israel very much. So the people of Israel left the king of Moab and went back to their own land.


Solomon began building the Lord’s temple {\cf2\super [22]} at Jerusalem on Mount Moriah. Mount Moriah is the place where the Lord came to David, Solomon’s father. Solomon built the temple on the place that David had made ready. This place was at the threshing floor {\cf2\super [23]} that had belonged to Araunah {\cf2\super [24]} the Jebusite.


Will the Lord be pleased\par with 1,000 rams or 10,000 rivers of oil?\par Should I give my first child\par as payment for my crimes?\par Should I give the child\par that came from my body\par as payment for my sins?\par


Yes, God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son. God gave his Son so that every person that believes in him would not be lost, but have life forever.


But Christ died for us while we were still sinners. In that way God showed us that he loves us very much.


He even let his own Son suffer for us. God gave his Son for us all. So with Jesus now, God will surely give us all things.


I will give you the first thing that comes out of my house when I come back from the victory. I will give it to the Lord as a burnt offering.”


At the end of two months, Jephthah’s daughter returned to her father. Jephthah did what he promised to the Lord. Jephthah’s daughter never had sexual relations with anyone. So this became a custom in Israel.
