The next morning at dawn, the angels were trying to make Lot hurry. They said, “This city will be punished. So take your wife and your two daughters who are still with you and leave this place. Then you will not be destroyed with the city.”


At the same time, the Lord began to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. The Lord caused fire and burning sulfur to fall out of the sky from the Lord.


Wild dogs and wolves will howl in the great and beautiful buildings of Babylon. Babylon will be finished. The end of Babylon is near. I will not let Babylon’s destruction wait until later.”


There will be no joy and singing in Carmel. {\cf2\super [171]} \par I will end the happiness at harvest time.\par The grapes are ready to become wine.\par But they will all be wasted.\par


That night, the people will be frightened.\par Before morning, nothing will be left.\par So our enemies will get nothing.\par They will come to our land,\par but nothing will be there.\par


The Lord has chosen a special day. On that day there will be riots and confusion. People will trample (walk on) each other in the Valley of Vision. {\cf2\super [214]} The city walls will be pulled down. The people in the valley will be shouting at the people in the city on the mountain.


Lord, you tricked me,\par and I certainly was fooled.\par You are stronger than I am,\par so you won.\par I have become a joke.\par People laugh at me\par and make fun of me all day long.\par


Kill all the young bulls (men) in Babylon.\par Let them be slaughtered. {\cf2\super [411]} \par The time has come for them to be defeated,\par so it will be very bad for them.\par It is time for them to be punished.\par


That day is near!\par Yes, the Lord’s day for judging is near.\par It will be a cloudy day,\par It will be the time for judging the nations!\par


People far away will die from disease. People near this place will be killed with swords. And the people that are left in the city will starve to death. Only then will I stop being angry.


Be sad! Why? Because the Lord’s special day is near. At that time, punishment will come like an attack from God All-Powerful.

It is time for judging to begin. That judging will begin with God’s family. If that judgment begins with us, then what will happen to those people who don’t accept the Good News {\cf2\super [29]} of God?
