God became angry at his people.\par God was fed up with them!\par


God heard this and became very angry.\par And He rejected Israel completely!\par


The faces of the people show that they are guilty of doing wrong. And they are proud of their sin. They are like the people of Sodom {\cf2\super [31]} —they don’t care who sees their sin. It will be very bad for them. They have brought much trouble to themselves.


Then you get in those beds\par and sin against me by loving\par those gods.\par You love those gods,\par You enjoy looking at their naked bodies.\par You were with me,\par but you left me to be with them.\par You hide the things that help you\par remember me.\par You hide those things\par behind the doors and door posts. {\cf2\super [443]} \par And then you go and make agreements\par with those false gods.\par


My own people turned against me\par like a wild lion.\par They roared at me,\par so I turned away from them.\par


The Lord said to me, “Jeremiah, even if Moses and Samuel were here to pray for the people of Judah, I would not feel sorry for these people. Send the people of Judah away from me. Tell them to go.


Listen to this warning, Jerusalem.\par If you don’t listen\par then I will turn my back on you.\par I will make your land an empty desert.\par No person will be able to live there.”\par


They should be ashamed\par of the bad things they do.\par But they are not ashamed at all.\par They don’t know enough\par to be embarrassed of their sins.\par So they will be punished with everyone else.\par They will be thrown to the ground\par when I punish the people.”\par The Lord said those things.\par


The Lord rejected his altar.\par He rejected his Holy Place of worship.\par He let the enemy pull down the walls\par of the palaces of Jerusalem.\par The enemy shouted with joy\par in the Lord’s temple.\par They made noise, as if it were a holiday.\par


The Lord my Master says these things: “You have spent your money {\cf2\super [128]} and let your lovers and filthy gods see your naked body and have sex with you. You have killed your children and poured out their blood. This was your gift to those false gods.


The Lord my Master says this, “You have done many bad things. Your sins are very clear. You forced me to remember that you are guilty. So the enemy will catch you in his hand.


They raped {\cf2\super [183]} her. They took her children. And they used a sword and killed her. They punished her. And women still talk about her.


Again and again Oholibah was unfaithful to me. And then she remembered the love affair she had as a young girl in Egypt.


So I let her lovers have her. She wanted Assyria, so I gave her to them!


“Argue with your mother. {\cf2\super [11]} Argue! Because she is not my wife! I am not her husband! Tell her to stop being like a prostitute. {\cf2\super [12]} Tell her to take away her lovers {\cf2\super [13]} from between her breasts.


“I will heal Israel!\par Then people will know\par that Ephraim {\cf2\super [69]} sinned.\par People will know about Samaria’s {\cf2\super [70]} lies.\par People will know about the thieves\par that come and go in that town.\par


“I hate your holidays!\par I will not accept them!\par I don’t enjoy your religious meetings!\par


The Lord my Master used his own name and made a promise. The Lord God All-Powerful made this promise:


I fired the three shepherds all in one month. I became angry at the sheep, and they began to hate me.


“The Lord saw this and became upset. His sons and daughters made him angry!
