Adonijah was also afraid of Solomon. So he went to the altar and held the horns of the altar. [7]


Joab heard about this and became afraid. He had supported Adonijah, but not Absalom. Joab ran to the tent of the Lord and held the horns of the altar. [9]


Also, that day King Solomon dedicated the yard in front of the temple. He offered burnt offerings, grain offerings, and the fat from the animals that were used as fellowship offerings. King Solomon made these offerings there in the yard. He did this because the bronze altar in front of the Lord was too small to hold them all.


Ahaz took the bronze altar that was before the Lord from the front of the temple. [193] This bronze altar was between Ahaz’s altar [194] and the temple of the Lord. Ahaz put the bronze altar on the north side of his own altar.


Solomon used bronze to make an altar. {\cf2\super [50]} That bronze altar was 20 cubits {\cf2\super [51]} long, 20 cubits wide, and 10 cubits {\cf2\super [52]} tall.


The Lord is God.\par And he accepts us.\par Tie up the lamb for the sacrifice {\cf2\super [583]} \par \{and carry it\} to the horns of the altar.” {\cf2\super [584]} \par


“Use bronze [216] to make all the tools and dishes that will be used on the altar. [217] Make pots, shovels, bowls, forks, and pans. These will be used for cleaning ashes from the altar.


Then take some of the bull’s blood and go to the altar. [270] Use your finger to put some blood on the horns of the altar. Pour all the blood that is left at the bottom of the altar.


That bronze was used to make the bases at the entrance of the Meeting Tent. [452] They also used the bronze to make the altar [453] and the bronze grating. And the bronze was used to make all the tools and dishes for the altar.


The place for the fire on the altar was 4 cubits high. The four corners were shaped like horns.


Then Aaron will go out to the altar [286] that is before the Lord. Aaron will make the altar pure. Aaron will take some of the bull’s blood and some of the goat’s blood and put it on the corners of the altar on all sides.


Then the priest must put some of the blood on the corners of the altar. [32] (This altar is in the Meeting Tent, in front of the Lord.) The priest must pour out all the blood at the base of the altar of burnt offering. (This altar is at the entrance of the Meeting Tent.)


The priest must take some of the blood of the sin offering on his finger and put it on the corners of the altar [35] of burnt offering. The priest must pour the rest of the blood at the base of the altar.


The priest must put some of the blood on the corners of the incense [27] altar. [28] (This altar is in the Meeting Tent, in front of the Lord.) The priest must pour out all of the bull’s blood at the base of the altar of burnt offering. (This altar is at the entrance of the Meeting Tent.)


Then Moses killed the bull and collected its blood. Moses used his finger and put some of the blood on all the corners of the altar. [93] In this way, Moses made the altar ready for sacrifices. Then Moses poured out the blood at the base of the altar. In this way, Moses made the altar ready for sacrifices to make the people pure. [94]


The Lord All-Powerful will protect them.\par The soldiers will use rocks and slings {\cf2\super [25]} \par to defeat the enemy.\par They will spill the blood of their enemies.\par It will flow like wine.\par It will be like the blood that is thrown\par on the corners of the altar!\par


Their job was to take care of the Holy Box, [38] the table, the lampstand, the altars, and the dishes of the Holy Place. [39] They also cared for the curtain and all the things that were used with the curtain.


Those two things cannot change. God cannot lie when he says something and he cannot lie when he makes a vow. So those things give great comfort to us who came to God for safety. Those two things give us comfort and strength to continue in the hope that God gives us.
