And she told her husband the same story. She said, “This Hebrew slave you brought here tried to attack me!


Then the king asked, “And where is Mephibosheth?” [92]


But my servant tricked me. He {only went to you and} said bad things about me. But my lord and king, you are like an angel from God. Do whatever you think is right.


If any person secretly says bad things\par about his neighbor,\par I will stop that person.\par I will not allow people to be proud\par and think they are better than other people.\par


Liars, do you know what you will get?\par Do you know what you will gain?\par


That kind of person doesn’t say bad things\par about other people.\par That person doesn’t do bad things\par to his neighbors.\par That person doesn’t tell shameful things\par about his own family.\par


My enemies have attacked me.\par They have told lies about me.\par They have told lies to hurt me.\par


A group of witnesses {\cf2\super [217]} are planning\par to hurt me.\par Those people will ask me questions\par that I know nothing about.\par

“Be very careful if you say that a person is guilty of something. Don’t make false charges against a person. Never allow an innocent person to be killed as punishment for something he did not do. Any person who kills an innocent man is evil, and I will not pardon (forgive) that person.


A person who hides his hate might be telling a lie. But only a fool tries to find gossip he can spread.


If a person tells the truth, then he is honest in the things he says. But if a person lies, then that leads to trouble.


A truthful person does not lie—he is a good witness. But a person that can’t be trusted never tells the truth—he is a bad witness.


An evil person listens to the evil things other people say. People who tell lies also listen to lies.


A lying witness makes justice nothing but a joke! The things evil people say bring more evil.


A person who tells a lie against another person will be punished. The person who tells lies will not be safe.


A lying witness must be punished! The person who tells lies will be destroyed.


A person who tells lies will be destroyed. Any person who listens to those lies will be destroyed with him.


Don’t speak against someone without a good reason. And don’t tell lies.


A person who does not tell the truth is dangerous. He is like a club, or a sword, or a sharp arrow.


The wind that blows from the north brings rain. And in the same way, gossip brings anger.

“You must not steal. You must not cheat people. You must not lie to each other.


You must not go around spreading false stories against other people. Don’t do anything that would put your neighbor’s life in danger. I am the Lord!


The man asked, “Which commands?”


Zacchaeus said to the Lord (Jesus), “I want to do good. I will give half of my money to the poor. If I have cheated any person, I will pay that person back four times more!”


The soldiers asked John, “What about us? What should we do?”


“Our law will not let us judge a person without hearing him. We cannot judge him until we know what he has done.”


It would be the same to say, “We should do evil so that good will come.” Many people criticize us and say that we teach those things. People that say those things are wrong, and they should be condemned.


So you must stop telling lies. You must always speak the truth to each other, because we all belong to each other in the same body.

People in those times will not have love for other people. They will refuse to forgive and will talk about other people to hurt them. People will not control themselves. They will be angry and mean and will hate things that are good.


But answer those people in a gentle way with respect. Always be able to feel that you are doing right. When you do that, the people who say bad things about you will be made ashamed. They say these bad things about the good way you live in Christ. They will be made ashamed for the bad things they said about you.


Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “The victory and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority (power) of his Christ {\cf2\super [92]} have now come. These things have come, because the accuser of our brothers has been thrown out. He is the one who accused our brothers day and night before our God.
