1 After these things happened, King Xerxes honored Haman. Haman was the son of a man named Hammedatha, the Agagite. The king promoted Haman and gave him a place of honor more important than any of the other leaders.

Then Esther spoke to the king again. She fell at the king’s feet and began crying. She begged the king to cancel the evil plan of Haman the Agagite. Haman had thought up that plan to hurt the Jews.

When the ruler is a good person, then all the people are happy. But when an evil person rules, then all the people complain.


Foolish people are given important positions, while rich people get jobs that are not important.
