After all these things happened, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision. [84] God said, “Abram, don’t be afraid. I will defend you. And I will give you a great reward.”


He is my God, the Rock I run to for protection. God is my shield. His power saves me. [136] The Lord is my hiding place, my place of safety, high in the hills. He saves me from the cruel enemy.


People from other lands obey me! When they hear my command, they quickly obey me. Those foreigners are afraid of me!


“And there is no nation on earth like your people, the people of Israel. They are a special people. {They were slaves,} but you took them out of Egypt and made them free. You made them your people. You did great and wonderful things for the Israelites. You did wonderful things for your land.


When Hezekiah and the leaders came, they saw the piles of things that were collected. They praised the Lord and his people, the people of Israel.


A person will be truly happy if he\par doesn’t follow the advice of bad people\par and doesn’t live like sinners\par and doesn’t feel at home with people\par who don’t respect God. {\cf2\super [1]} \par


At times like this,\par people are very happy.\par People are very happy\par if the Lord is their God.\par


Those people will hear about me\par and quickly obey me.\par Those foreigners will be afraid of me.\par


Those foreigners will wilt with fear.\par They will come from their hiding places\par shaking with fear.\par


A person is very happy. {\cf2\super [195]} \par when his sins are forgiven.\par \{That person is very fortunate\}\par when his sins are erased. {\cf2\super [196]} \par

People who have the Lord as their God\par are very fortunate.\par Why? Because God chose them\par to be his own special people.\par


So we will wait for the Lord.\par He helps us and he protects us.\par


Put your sword on.\par Put on your glorious uniform.\par


Tell God how wonderful his works are!\par God, your power is very great!\par Your enemies bow down.\par They are afraid of you!\par


God is more powerful than any of your gods.\par The God of Israel makes his people strong.\par


If God makes a decision,\par he does not change his mind.\par


The Lord’s enemies would shake with fear.\par They would be punished forever.\par


The Lord is our protector and glorious king. {\cf2\super [491]} \par God blesses us with kindness and glory.\par The Lord gives every good thing\par to people who follow and obey him.\par


God saves me.\par I trust him.\par I am not afraid.\par He saves me.\par The Lord YAH is my strength.\par He saves me.\par And I sing songs of praise about him. {\cf2\super [139]} \par


At that time, the Lord will judge\par Leviathan, {\cf2\super [246]} the crooked snake.\par The Lord will use his great sword,\par his hard and powerful sword, to punish\par Leviathan, the coiled snake.\par The Lord will kill\par the large creature in the sea. {\cf2\super [247]} \par


Those people will live safely in high places. They will be protected in high rock fortresses. Those people will always have food and water.


But Israel will be saved by the Lord.\par That salvation will continue forever.\par Never, never again will Israel be shamed.\par


Then you can ask the Lord\par to be kind to you.\par And he will carry you to the High Places\par above the earth.\par And he will give you all the things\par that belonged to Jacob your father.\par


Soldiers came to take things\par from every place in that empty land.\par The Lord used those armies\par to punish that land.\par People from one end of the land\par to the other were punished.\par No person was safe.\par


“Sword of the Lord, you have not quit.\par How long will you keep fighting?\par Go back into your scabbard! {\cf2\super [375]} \par Stop! Be still!\par


“Israel, I helped you. But you turned against me. So now I will destroy you!


The Lord made a promise. He used his name, Pride of Jacob, and made this promise:


The Lord, my Master,\par gives me my strength.\par He helps me run fast like a deer.\par He leads me safely on the mountains.\par


“People of Jacob, your tents are beautiful! People of Israel, your homes are beautiful!


You will take the land from the people you find there. You must destroy all of their carved statues and idols. You must destroy all of their high places. [378]


The Lord led Jacob to take control of the hill country. Jacob took the harvest in the fields. The Lord gave Jacob honey from the rock; he made olive oil flow from the hard rock.


“Has anything this great ever happened before? Never! Look at the past. Think about all the things that happened before you were born. Go all the way back to the time when God made people on the earth. Look at all the things that have happened anywhere in the world. Has anyone ever heard about anything as great as this? No!


And has any other god ever tried to go and take a people for himself from inside another nation? No! But you yourselves have seen the Lord your God do all these wonderful things! He showed you his power and strength. You saw the troubles that tested the people. You saw miracles and wonders. You saw war and the terrible things that happened.


We hope in the living God. He is the Savior of all people. And in a special way, he is the Savior of all those people who believe in him. This is why we work and struggle.


He held seven stars in his right hand. A sharp two-edged sword came out of his mouth. He looked like the sun shining at its brightest time.


Their armies were killed with the sword that came out of the mouth of the rider on the horse. All the birds ate these bodies until the birds were full.


Then all three groups of Gideon’s men blew their trumpets and smashed their jars. The men held the torches in their left hands and the trumpets in their right hands. As those men blew their trumpets, they shouted, “A sword for the Lord, and a sword for Gideon!”
