Now each one of you must fear the Lord. Be careful in what you do because the Lord our God is fair. The Lord doesn’t treat some people more important than others. And he doesn’t accept money to change his judgments.”


Lord, protect the children without parents.\par Don’t let sad people suffer more troubles.\par Make bad people too afraid to stay here.\par


The Lord is fair.\par God brings justice to people\par that have been hurt by other people.\par


The Lord is good to every person.\par God shows his mercy to everything he made.\par


The Lord protects strangers {\cf2\super [647]} in our country.\par The Lord cares for widows {\cf2\super [648]} and orphans. {\cf2\super [649]} \par But the Lord destroys bad people.\par


In his holy temple,\par God is like a father to orphans. {\cf2\super [390]} \par God takes care of widows. {\cf2\super [391]} \par


God gives lonely people a home.\par God takes his people out of prison.\par They are very happy.\par But people who turn against God,\par will stay in their hot prison.\par


“If any person makes a sacrifice [143] to a false god, then that person should be destroyed. The Lord God is the only one you should make sacrifices to.


“Remember, in the past you were foreigners in the land of Egypt. So you should not cheat or hurt any person who is a foreigner in your land.


“You must never do anything bad to women whose husbands are dead or to children without parents.


If you do anything wrong to those widows or orphans, then I will know it. I will hear about their suffering.


Learn to do good things. Be fair with other people. Punish the people that hurt others. Help the children that have no parents. Help the women whose husbands are dead.”


No person will be left\par to care for his children.\par His wives will have no one to depend on.”\par


“Assyria will not save us.\par We will not ride on \{war\} horses.\par We will never again say, ‘Our God’\par to something we made with our hands.\par Why? Because you are the One who\par shows mercy to orphans. {\cf2\super [148]} ”\par


“Maybe a person from your own country [431] will become too poor to support himself. You must let him live with you like a visitor.


If you come with us, then we will share with you all the good things that the Lord gives us.”


If you do this, then you will be true sons of your Father in heaven. Your Father lets the sun rise for the good people and the bad people. Your Father sends rain to people that do good and to people that do wrong.


But God was always there doing things that prove he is real. He gives you rain from the sky. He gives you good harvests at the right times. He gives you plenty of food, and he fills your hearts with joy.”


“{The Levites will say,} ‘Cursed is the person that does not give fair judgment for the foreigners, orphans, [177] and widows [178] !’
