The angel said, “You were ready to kill your son for me. This was your only son. Because you did this for me, I make you this promise: I, the Lord, promise that


God became angry at his people.\par God was fed up with them!\par


God chose our land for us.\par He chose that wonderful land for Jacob,\par the man he loved.\par \i (SELAH {\cf2\super [286]})\i0 \par


\{I am not hungry!\}\par But if I were hungry,\par I would not have to ask you for food.\par I already own the world\par and everything on it.\par


God heard this and became very angry.\par And He rejected Israel completely!\par


If a person respects the Lord,\par then that person will hate evil.\par I (Wisdom) hate pride\par and people who think they are better\par than other people.\par I hate evil ways, and a lying mouth.\par


Look at Samaria!\par The drunk people of Ephraim\par are proud of that city.\par That city sits on a hill\par with a rich valley around it.\par The people of Samaria think their city\par is a beautiful crown of flowers.\par But they are drunk with wine.\par And this “Beautiful Crown”\par is just a dying plant.\par


My own people turned against me\par like a wild lion.\par They roared at me,\par so I turned away from them.\par


Jehoiakim says,\par ‘I will build a great palace for myself.\par I will have large upper rooms.’\par So he builds the house with large windows.\par He uses cedar word for paneling,\par and he paints it red.\par


But if you don’t obey these commands, this is what the Lord says: I, the Lord, promise that this king’s palace {\cf2\super [174]} will be destroyed—it will become a pile of rocks.’”


But, listen to the message from the Lord, all you people of Judah that are living in Egypt: ‘I use my great name and make this promise: I promise none of the people of Judah that are now living in Egypt will ever again use my name to make promises. They will never again say, “As surely as the Lord lives,”


The Lord says, “By my own power, I make this promise: I promise that the city of Bozrah will be destroyed. That city will become a ruined pile of rocks. People will use that city as an example when they ask for bad things to happen to other cities. People will insult that city. And all the towns around Bozrah will become ruins forever.”


The Lord All-Powerful used his name\par to make this promise:\par “Babylon, I will fill you\par with many enemy soldiers.\par They will be like a swarm of locusts. {\cf2\super [420]} \par They will win their war against you.\par And they will stand over you\par and shout the cry of victory.”\par


The Lord has become like an enemy.\par He has swallowed up Israel.\par He has swallowed up all her palaces.\par He has swallowed up all her fortresses.\par He has made much sadness\par and crying for the dead\par in the Daughter of Judah. {\cf2\super [12]} \par


to speak to the family of Israel. The Lord my Master said, ‘Look, I will destroy my holy place. You are proud of that place and sing songs of praise about it. You love to see that place. You really love that place. \{But I will destroy that place\} and your children that you left behind will be killed in battle.


The sword will swing against their cities. It will kill their strong men. It will destroy their leaders.


Also, I will place my Holy Tent [443] among you. I will not turn away from you!


I will destroy your high places. [445] I will cut down your incense [446] altars. [447] I will put your dead bodies on the dead bodies of your idols. [448] You will be very disgusting to me.


So the Lord says, “An enemy will come to that land. That enemy will take away your strength. He will take the things you hid in your high towers.”


The Lord my Master made a promise. He promised by his holiness, that troubles will come to you. People will use hooks and take you away as prisoners. They will use fishhooks to take away your children.


“I hate your holidays!\par I will not accept them!\par I don’t enjoy your religious meetings!\par


The temple {\cf2\super [99]} songs will become sad funeral songs. The Lord my Master said those things. There will be dead bodies everywhere. In silence, people will take out the dead bodies and throw them \{onto the pile\}.” {\cf2\super [100]}


The Lord made a promise. He used his name, Pride of Jacob, and made this promise:


I fired the three shepherds all in one month. I became angry at the sheep, and they began to hate me.


“The Lord saw this and became upset. His sons and daughters made him angry!
