7 Those people are stretched out on their couches now. But their good times will end. They will be taken away like prisoners to a foreign country. And they will be some of the first people taken.

I am worried and I am shaking from fear. My pleasant evening has become a night of fear.\par


People have stopped showing their joy. All the happy sounds have stopped. The happy music from the drums and harps has ended.


That very same night, Belshazzar, king of the Babylonian people, was killed.


\{Your city will be destroyed.\} The women will rush out through cracks in the wall and throw themselves onto the pile \{of dead bodies\}. {\cf2\super [50]}


So I will cause you to be taken captive beyond Damascus.”\par The Lord says those things.\par His name is God All-Powerful.\par


But don’t look in Bethel. {\cf2\super [60]} \par Don’t go to Gilgal. {\cf2\super [61]} \par Don’t cross the border\par and go down to Beersheba. {\cf2\super [62]} \par The people of Gilgal will be taken away\par as prisoners. {\cf2\super [63]} \par And Bethel will be destroyed. {\cf2\super [64]} \par


Amos has said, ‘Jeroboam will die by the sword, and the people of Israel will be taken as prisoners out of their country.’”


But the Lord says: ‘Your wife will become a prostitute {\cf2\super [96]} in the city. Your sons and daughters will be killed with swords. Other people will take your land and divide it among themselves. And you will die in a foreign {\cf2\super [97]} country. The people of Israel will definitely be taken from this country as prisoners.’”


You will be completely destroyed\par like thorn bushes burning under a pot.\par You will be destroyed quickly\par like dry weeds that burn fast.\par


Some of the people will be killed by soldiers. Other people will be made prisoners and taken to every country. The holy city of Jerusalem will be walked on by non-Jewish people until their time is finished.


You will have sons and daughters. But you will not be able to keep them. Why? Because they will be captured and taken away.
