So the king of Israel went with the king of Judah and the king of Edom. They traveled around for seven days. There was not enough water for the army or for their animals.


The Lord sees what happens everywhere. The Lord watches every person—good and evil.


But Ephraim and Judah will attack the Philistines. {\cf2\super [136]} These two nations will be like birds flying down to catch a small animal. Together, they will take the riches from the people in the east. Ephraim and Judah will control Edom, Moab, {\cf2\super [137]} and the people in Ammon. {\cf2\super [138]}


We have heard that the people of Moab {\cf2\super [168]} are very proud and conceited. These people are violent and they boast. But the boasts are only empty words.\par


The Lord’s power is on this mountain.\par And Moab {\cf2\super [239]} will be defeated.\par The Lord will trample (walk on) the enemy.\par It will be like walking on straw\par in a pile of waste.\par


Then I made the people of Edom, Moab, and Ammon drink from the cup.


The Lord says these things: “I will definitely punish \{the people of\} Edom {\cf2\super [21]} for the many crimes they did. {\cf2\super [22]} Why? Because Edom chased his brother (Israel) with the sword. Edom showed no mercy. Edom’s anger continued forever—he kept tearing and tearing \{at Israel like a wild animal\}.


The Lord says these things: “I will definitely punish \{the people of\} Ammon {\cf2\super [25]} for the many crimes they did. {\cf2\super [26]} Why? Because they killed the pregnant women in Gilead. {\cf2\super [27]} The Ammonite people did this so they could \{take that land\} and make their country larger.


The Lord says these things: “I will definitely punish \{the people of\} Damascus for the many crimes they did. Why? Because they crushed \{the people of\} Gilead {\cf2\super [4]} with iron threshing tools. {\cf2\super [5]}


The Lord says this: “I will definitely punish \{the people of\} Gaza {\cf2\super [12]} for the many crimes they did. {\cf2\super [13]} Why? Because they took an entire nation of people and sent them as slaves to Edom. {\cf2\super [14]}


The Lord says these things: “I will definitely punish \{the people of\} Tyre {\cf2\super [18]} for the many crimes they did. {\cf2\super [19]} Why? Because they took an entire nation and sent them as slaves to Edom. {\cf2\super [20]} They did not remember the agreement they had made with their brothers (Israel).


The Lord says this: “I will definitely punish Judah for the many crimes they did. {\cf2\super [35]} Why? Because they refused to obey the Lord’s commands. They didn’t keep his commands. Their ancestors {\cf2\super [36]} believed \{lies\}. And those same lies caused the people of Judah to quit following God.


The Lord says this: “I will definitely punish Israel for the many crimes they did. {\cf2\super [37]} Why? Because they sold good, \{innocent\} people for a little silver. They sold poor people for the price of a pair of shoes.


My people, remember the \{evil\} plans\par of Balak king of Moab.\par Remember what Balaam son of Beor\par said to Balak.\par Remember the things that happened\par from Acacia to Gilgal {\cf2\super [73]} .\par Remember those things and\par you will know the Lord is right!”\par
