The Lord came down to see the city and the very tall building. The Lord saw the people building these things.


So let’s go down and confuse their language. Then they will not understand each other.”


So I will go and see if things are as bad as I have heard. Then I will know for sure.”


You saw our ancestors {\cf2\super [51]} suffering in Egypt.\par And you heard them call for help\par by the Red Sea.\par


So God sent his servant, Moses,\par and Aaron, God’s chosen priest.\par


But whenever God’s people were in trouble,\par \{they always called to God for help\}.\par And God listened to their prayers every time.\par


Lord, tear open the skies and come down.\par Touch the mountains and smoke will rise from them.\par


Then God said to Moses, “{Tell them,} ‘I AM WHO I AM.’ [20] When you go to the people of Israel, tell them, ‘I AM’ sent me to you.”


The people believed that God had sent Moses. The people of Israel knew that God had seen their troubles, and that he had come to help them. So they bowed down and worshiped God.


If you would tear open the skies\par and come down to earth,\par \{then everything would change\}.\par The mountains would melt before you.\par


But the Lord used a prophet and brought Israel out of Egypt. The Lord used a prophet and kept Israel safe.


\{I will tell you the things I did!\}\par I sent Moses, Aaron, and Miriam to you.\par I brought you from the land of Egypt.\par I freed you from slavery.\par


Then I will come down and speak with you there. The Spirit [158] is on you now. But I will also give some of that Spirit [159] to them. Then they will help you take care of the people. In this way, you will not have to be responsible for these people alone.


The only one that has ever gone up to heaven is the One that came down from heaven—the Son of Man. {\cf2\super [48]}


I came down from heaven to do what God wants me to do. I did not come to do what I want to do.


Many times the enemies of Israel did bad things to the people. So the people of Israel would cry for help. And each time, the Lord felt sorry for the people. Each time he sent a judge to save the people from their enemies. The Lord was always with those judges. So each time, the people of Israel were saved from their enemies.
