Many Pharisees {\cf2\super [37]} and Sadducees {\cf2\super [38]} came to the place where John was baptizing people. When John saw them he said to them: “You are all snakes! Who warned you to run away from God’s anger that is coming?


Then some men came \{to Antioch\} from Judea. They began teaching the non-Jewish brothers: “You cannot be saved if you are not circumcised. {\cf2\super [296]} Moses taught us to do this.”


We have heard that some men have come to you from our group. The things they said troubled and upset you. But we did not tell them to do this!


When the leaders heard these things, they praised God. Then they said to Paul, “Brother, you can see that thousands of Jews have become believers. But they think it is very important to obey the law of Moses.


But I will tell you this: I worship the God of our fathers {\cf2\super [467]} as a follower of the Way \{of Jesus\}. The Jews say that the Way \{of Jesus\} is not the right way. But I believe everything that is taught in the law \{of Moses\}. And I believe everything that is written in the books of the prophets. {\cf2\super [468]}


This man (Paul) is a troublemaker. He makes trouble with the Jews everywhere in the world. He is a leader of the Nazarene group.


We want to hear your ideas. We know that people everywhere are speaking against this group (Christians).”


The high priest {\cf2\super [89]} and all his friends (a group called the Sadducees {\cf2\super [90]})became very jealous.


If a man was already circumcised {\cf2\super [42]} when he was called, then he should not change his circumcision. If a man was without circumcision when he was called, then he should not be circumcised.


Peter came to Antioch. He did something that was not right. I was against Peter, because he was wrong.


I saw what these Jews did. They were not following the truth of the Good News. {\cf2\super [17]} So I spoke to Peter in a way that all the other Jews could hear what I said. This is what I said: “Peter, you are a Jew. But you don’t live like a Jew. You live like a non-Jew. So why do you now force the non-Jewish people to live like Jews?”
