Then Elijah prayed, “Lord my God. This widow [195] is letting me stay in her house. Will you do this bad thing to her? Will you cause her son to die?


God said he would give mercy to our fathers. {\cf2\super [23]} \par And he remembered his holy promise.\par


“With the loving mercy of our God,\par a new Day from heaven\par will shine on us.\par


Also with these women were: Joanna, the wife of Chuza (Herod’s {\cf2\super [148]} helper), Suzanna, and many other women. These women used their own money to help Jesus and his apostles.


Then they went to the city of Ephesus. This is where Paul left Priscilla and Aquila. While Paul was in Ephesus, he went into the synagogue {\cf2\super [369]} and talked with the Jews.


Paul left them and said, “I will come back to you again if God wants me to.” And so Paul sailed away from Ephesus.


While Apollos was in the city of Corinth, Paul was visiting some places on the way to the city of Ephesus. In Ephesus Paul found some followers \{of the Lord\}.


Jesus will keep you strong always until the end. He will keep you strong, so that there will be no wrong in you on the day when our Lord Jesus Christ comes again.


But I will stay at Ephesus until Pentecost. {\cf2\super [120]}


But the work that each person does will be clearly seen, because the Day {\cf2\super [18]} will make it plain. That Day will appear with fire, and the fire will test every man’s work.


I really don’t need to write to you about this help for God’s people.


But God’s mercy is very great, and God loved us very much.


I want you to stay in Ephesus. I asked you to do that when I went into Macedonia. Some people there in Ephesus are teaching false things. Stay there so that you can command those people not to teach those false things.


And I suffer now because I tell that Good News. But I am not ashamed. I know the One (Jesus) that I have believed. I am sure that he is able to protect the things that he has trusted me with until that Day. {\cf2\super [8]}


I pray that the Lord will show mercy to the family of Onesiphorus. Many times Onesiphorus encouraged me. He was not ashamed that I was in prison.


No. He was not ashamed. When he came to Rome, he looked and looked for me until he found me.


Now, a crown (reward) is waiting for me. I will get that crown for being right with God. The Lord is the judge who judges rightly. He will give me the crown on that Day. {\cf2\super [21]} Yes! He will give that crown to me. He will give that crown to all people who have wanted him to come again and have waited for him.


God is fair. God will remember all the work you have done. And God will remember that you showed your love to him by helping his people. And God will remember that you continue to help his people.


The prophets {\cf2\super [4]} studied carefully and tried to learn about this salvation. Those prophets spoke about the grace (kindness) that was coming to you.


“Write this to the angel of the church in Ephesus:
