Then the king ordered Benaiah to kill Shimei, and he did. Now Solomon had full control of his kingdom.


People always use the name of someone greater than themselves to make a vow (promise). The vow proves that what they say is true. And this ends all arguing about what they say.


But Saul said, “No! Don’t kill anyone today! The Lord saved Israel today!”


Saul used the Lord’s name to make a promise to the woman. He said, “As surely as the Lord lives, you will not be punished for doing this.”


David asked the Egyptian, “Will you lead me to the people who took our families?”
