¹⁵ These false teachers left the right way and went the wrong way. They followed the same way that Balaam went. Balaam was the son of Beor. He loved being paid for doing wrong.

Numbers 22:23

So they are like dirty spots and stains among you—\{they bring shame to you\} in the meals that you eat together.

Revelation 2:14

“But I have a few things against you: You have people there \{in your group\} who follow the teaching of Balaam. Balaam taught Balak how to make the people of Israel {\cf2\super [17]} sin. Those people sinned by eating food offered to idols {\cf2\super [18]} and by doing sexual sins.

1 Samuel 12:23
