He will go back the same way he came. He will not come into this city. The Lord says this!


The Lord had caused the Aramean army to hear the sound of chariots, [80] horses, and a large army. So the Aramean soldiers said to each other, “The king of Israel has hired the kings of the Hittites and Egyptians to come against us!”


Then the Lord sent an angel to the king of Assyria’s camp. That angel killed all the soldiers and the leaders and the officers in the Assyrian army. So the king of Assyria went back home to his own country, and his people were ashamed of him. He went into the temple of his god and some of his own sons killed him there with a sword.


Every noise scares him.\par His enemy will attack him\par when he thinks he is safe.\par


God’s punishment kills those people.\par God’s anger destroys them.\par


He will make hot coals and burning\par sulphur fall like rain on those bad people.\par Those bad people will get nothing but\par a hot, burning wind. {\cf2\super [63]} \par


Our God is coming,\par and he will not keep quiet.\par Fire burns in front of him.\par There is a great storm around him.\par


God will punish those evil judges\par for the bad things they did.\par God will destroy them\par because they sinned.\par The Lord our God will destroy\par those evil judges.\par


I heard a message from the Lord:\par The Lord sent a messenger to the nations. This is the message:\par “Gather your armies together!\par Get ready for battle!\par March against the nation of Edom!\par


The Lord says,\par “I will cause a powerful, destructive\par wind to blow against Babylon\par and the Babylonian people. {\cf2\super [415]} \par


“Don’t be sad, my people.\par Rumors will spread, but don’t be afraid.\par One rumor comes this year.\par Another rumor will come next year.\par There will be rumors about terrible fighting\par in the country.\par There will be rumors about rulers fighting\par against other rulers.\par
