The king of Assyria sent his three most important commanders with a large army to King Hezekiah in Jerusalem. Those men left Lachish and went to Jerusalem. They stood near the aqueduct [225] by the Upper Pool. (The Upper Pool is on the road to the Washers’ Field.)


Don’t let Hezekiah make you trust in the Lord! Hezekiah says, ‘The Lord will save us! The king of Assyria will not defeat this city!’


Did any of the gods in the other countries save their land from me? No! Can the Lord save Jerusalem from me? No!”


But who did you insult and make fun of? Who did you speak against? You were against the Holy One of Israel! You acted like you were better than him!


King Hezekiah’s officers went to Isaiah.


Elisha said, “Don’t be afraid! The army that fights for us is larger than the army {that fights for Aram}!”


Jahaziel said, “Listen to me King Jehoshaphat, all you people living in Judah and Jerusalem! The Lord says this to you: ‘Don’t be afraid or worry about this large army, because the battle is not your battle. It is God’s battle!


You won’t need to fight in this battle. Stand strong in your places. You will see the Lord save you. Judah and Jerusalem, don’t be afraid! Don’t worry! The Lord is with you, so go out against those people tomorrow.’”


God, remember these things.\par Remember, the enemy insulted you!\par Those foolish people hate your name!\par


Don’t forget the shouts of your enemies.\par They insulted you again and again.\par


But Moses answered, “Don’t be afraid! Stand where you are and watch the Lord save you today. You will never see these Egyptians again!


My Master, the Lord All-Powerful, says, “My people living in Zion, {\cf2\super [121]} don’t be afraid of Assyria! {\cf2\super [122]} He will beat you like Egypt beat you in the past. It will be like Assyria is using a stick to hurt you.


You people that understand goodness\par should listen to me.\par You people that follow my teachings\par should hear the things I say.\par Don’t be afraid of evil people.\par Don’t be afraid of the bad things\par that they say to you.\par


Then Jeremiah said to them, “This is what the Lord, the God of the people of Israel, says. You sent me to him. I asked the Lord what you wanted me to ask. This is what the Lord says:


You came to me\par on the day that I called out to you.\par You said to me,\par “Don’t be afraid.”\par


Five of you will chase 100 men, and 100 of you will chase 10,000 men. You will defeat your enemies and kill them with your sword.


“When you go out to battle against your enemies, and you see horses, chariots, [126] and many more people than you have, you must not be afraid of them. Why? Because the Lord your God is with you—and the Lord brought you out of Egypt.


Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Don’t be afraid of that army. I will allow you to defeat them. By this time tomorrow, you will have killed them all. You will cut the legs of the horses and burn all their chariots.”


The animal opened his mouth to say bad things against God. The animal also said bad things against God’s name, against the place where God lives, and against all those who live in heaven.
