6 The king of Assyria took Samaria during the ninth year that Hoshea was king of Israel. The king of Assyria captured many Israelites and took them as prisoners to Assyria. He made them live in Halah by the Habor River at Gozan and in other cities of the Medes.

“Your people will sin against you. I know this because every person sins. And you will be angry with your people. You will let their enemies defeat them. Their enemies will make them prisoners and carry them to some faraway land.

The Lord said to Hosea, “Name him Jezreel. {\cf2\super [2]} Why? Because in a little while I will punish the family of Jehu for the blood \{he spilled\} at Jezreel Valley. {\cf2\super [3]} Then I will put an end to the kingdom of the nation {\cf2\super [4]} of Israel.


Then Gomer became pregnant again and gave birth to a daughter. \{The Lord\} said to Hosea, “Name her Lo-Ruhamah. {\cf2\super [5]} Why? Because I will not show mercy to the nation {\cf2\super [6]} of Israel any more. I will not forgive them.


Then \{the Lord\} said, “Name him Lo-Ammi. {\cf2\super [8]} Why? Because you are not my people. I am not your God.”


Samaria must be punished.\par Why? Because she turned against her God.\par The Israelites will be killed with swords.\par Their children will be torn to pieces.\par Their pregnant women will be ripped open.”\par


Israel was destroyed.\par \{Its people are scattered among the\} nations\par like some dish that was thrown away\par because no one wanted it.\par


The Israelites will not stay in the Lord’s land. Ephraim will return to Egypt. In Assyria they will eat food that they should not eat.


You will be lost in other nations. You will disappear in the land of your enemies.


So I will cause you to be taken captive beyond Damascus.”\par The Lord says those things.\par His name is God All-Powerful.\par


But the Lord says: ‘Your wife will become a prostitute {\cf2\super [96]} in the city. Your sons and daughters will be killed with swords. Other people will take your land and divide it among themselves. And you will die in a foreign {\cf2\super [97]} country. The people of Israel will definitely be taken from this country as prisoners.’”


“The Lord will send you and your king away to a nation you don’t know. You and your ancestors [183] have never seen that nation. There you will serve false gods made of wood and stone.


The Lord will scatter you among all the people in the world. The Lord will scatter you from one end of the earth to the other. There you will serve false gods made of wood and stone. They are false gods that you or your ancestors [188] never worshiped.


then you will be destroyed. I am warning you! If you turn away from the Lord, you will not live long in that land across the Jordan River that you are ready to enter and take for your own.
