2 Chronicles 9:1 - Easy To Read Version

1 The Queen of Sheba heard about Solomon’s fame. She came to Jerusalem to test Solomon with hard questions. The Queen of Sheba had a very large group with her. She had camels that carried spices, much gold, and valuable stones. She came to Solomon and talked with him. She had many questions to ask Solomon.

Jokshan was the father of Sheba and Dedan. The people of Asshur, [140] Leum, and Letush were descendants of Dedan.


He was wiser than any of the men on earth. He was even wiser than Ethan the Ezrahite. He was wiser than Heman, Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol. King Solomon became famous in all of the countries around Israel and Judah.


Solomon became a very strong king because the Lord his God was with him. The Lord made Solomon very great.


So I will give you wisdom and knowledge. But I will also give you wealth, riches, and honor. No king who lived before you has ever had so much wealth and honor. And no king in the future will have as much wealth and honor.”


Solomon gave answers to all her questions. There was nothing too hard for Solomon to explain or answer.


Then the Queen of Sheba gave King Solomon 4 1/2 tons {\cf2\super [149]} of gold, a great many spices, and valuable stones. No person gave such fine spices to King Solomon as the Queen of Sheba did.


I will tell the Lord about my problems.\par I will tell the Lord about my troubles.\par


I myself listened to the stories.\par And now, with my harp, I will sing\par and reveal that message to you.\par


May the kings of Tarshish {\cf2\super [412]} \par and all the faraway lands\par bring gifts to him.\par May the kings of Sheba and Seba\par bring their tribute {\cf2\super [413]} to him.\par


Long live the king!\par And let him receive gold from Sheba.\par Always pray for the king.\par Bless him every day.\par


I will tell you this story.\par I will tell you this old story.\par


Then those people will be able to understand wise sayings and stories with hidden meanings. Those people will be able to understand the things wise men say.


Herds of camels from Midian and Ephah\par will cross your land.\par Long lines of camels will come from Sheba.\par They will bring gold and incense.\par People will sing praises to the Lord.\par


You snakes! You are evil people! How can you say anything good? The mouth speaks the things that are in the heart.


On the judgment day, you people that live now will also be compared with the Queen of the South, {\cf2\super [181]} and she will be a witness to show that you are wrong (guilty). Why? Because she traveled from far, far away to listen to Solomon’s wise teaching. And I tell you that someone greater than Solomon is right here, \{but you won’t listen to me\}!


Jesus answered, “Only you can know the secret truths about the kingdom of heaven. Those other people cannot know these secret truths.


This is the same as what the prophet {\cf2\super [185]} said:


The wise men came to the house where the baby was. They saw the baby with his mother Mary. The wise men bowed down and worshiped the baby. The wise men opened the gifts they brought for the baby. They gave the baby treasures of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. {\cf2\super [23]}


On the judgment day, you people that live now will be compared with the Queen of the South, {\cf2\super [206]} and she will be a witness to show that you are wrong (guilty). Why? Because she traveled from far, far away to listen to Solomon’s wise teaching. And I tell you that someone greater than Solomon is right here, \{but you won’t listen to me\}!


Hannah answered, “Sir, I have not drunk any wine or beer. I am deeply troubled. I was telling the Lord about all my problems.
