2 Chronicles 7:9 - Easy To Read Version

9 On the eighth day they had a holy meeting because they had celebrated for seven days. They made the altar {\cf2\super [127]} holy and it was to be used only for worshiping the Lord. And they celebrated the feast for seven days.

So all the men of Israel came together with King Solomon. This was during the time of the special holiday (the Festival of Shelters) during the month of Ethanim (the seventh month of the year).


So there at the temple, King Solomon and all the people of Israel celebrated the holiday. [118] All Israel was there, from as far away as Hamath Pass in the north, to the border of Egypt in the south. Many, many people were there. They ate, drank, and enjoyed themselves together with the Lord for seven days. Then they stayed for another seven days. They celebrated for a total of 14 days! [119]


All the people agreed to stay seven more days. They were joyful as they celebrated the Passover {\cf2\super [376]} for seven more days.


On the 23rd day of the seventh month Solomon sent the people back to their homes. The people were very happy and their hearts were full of joy, because the Lord was so good to David, to Solomon, and to his people Israel.


Ezra read to them from the Book of the Law every day of the festival. Ezra read the Law to them from the first day of the festival to the last day. The people of Israel celebrated the festival for seven days. Then on the eighth day the people met together for a special meeting, like the Law says.


You will make the altar pure and holy for seven days. At that time the altar will become most holy. Anything that touches the altar will also be holy.


Tell the people that there will be a special time for not eating food. Call the people together for a special meeting. Bring the leaders and all the people that live in the land together. Bring them to the temple {\cf2\super [7]} of the Lord your God, and pray to the Lord.


You will bring an offering by fire to the Lord for seven days. On the eighth day you will have another holy meeting. You will bring an offering by fire to the Lord. This will be a holy meeting. You must not do any work.

You must eat unleavened bread [100] six days. On the seventh day you must not do any work. On this day, the people will come together for a special meeting to honor the Lord your God.
