⁵ Jehoiakim was 25 years old when he became the new king of Judah. He was king in Jerusalem for eleven years. Jehoiakim didn’t do the things the Lord wanted him to do. He sinned against the Lord his God.

The Lord continued to speak to Jeremiah during the eleven years and five months that Zedekiah was king of Judah. Zedekiah was also a son of Josiah. In the fifth month of Zedekiah’s eleventh year as king, the people that lived in Jerusalem were taken away into exile.
