4 Ahaziah did evil things in the Lord’s sight. That is what Ahab’s family did. Ahab’s family gave advice to Ahaziah after Ahaziah’s father died. They gave Ahaziah bad advice. That bad advice led to his death.

Ahaziah also lived the way Ahab’s family lived. He lived that way because his mother encouraged him to do wrong things.


My son, some people love to do bad things—and those people will try to make you do bad things too. Don’t listen to them!


Good people are fair and honest in the things they plan to do. But don’t trust the things an evil person tells you.


Be friends with people who are wise, and you will become wise. But if you choose fools to be your friends, then you will have trouble.


If you stop listening to instructions, then you will keep making stupid mistakes.


Then the king called the satraps, {\cf2\super [20]} the prefects, {\cf2\super [21]} governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, rulers, and all the other officials in his kingdom to come together. The king wanted all those men to come to the dedication ceremony for the idol.


Then King Nebuchadnezzar jumped to his feet. He was very surprised and he asked his advisers, “We tied only three men and we threw only three men into the fire! Is that right?”


Why? Because you obey the laws of Omri. {\cf2\super [78]} \par You do all the \{bad\} things\par that Ahab’s family does.\par You follow their teachings.\par So I will let you be destroyed.\par People will whistle in amazement\par when they see your destroyed city.\par Then you will bear the shame\par that the other nations bring to you. {\cf2\super [79]} \par
