1 Thessalonians 5:20
20 Tagairtí Cros

In the church (group of believers) at Antioch there were some prophets {\cf2\super [243]} and teachers. They were: Barnabas, Simeon (also called Niger), Lucius (from the city of Cyrene), Manaen (who had grown up with Herod, {\cf2\super [244]} the ruler) and Saul.

Then Paul put his hands on them {\cf2\super [381]} and the Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [382]} came into them. They began speaking different languages and prophesying. {\cf2\super [383]}

Every man that prophesies {\cf2\super [79]} or prays with his head covered brings shame to his head.

The Spirit gives to another person the power to do miracles, {\cf2\super [84]} to another person the ability to prophesy, {\cf2\super [85]} to another person the ability to know the difference between good and evil spirits. The Spirit gives one person the ability to speak in different kinds of languages, and to another person the ability to interpret those languages.

And in the church God has given a place first to apostles, {\cf2\super [89]} second to prophets, {\cf2\super [90]} and third to teachers. Then God has given a place to those people that do miracles, {\cf2\super [91]} those people that have gifts of healing, those people that can help others, those people that are able to lead, and those people that can speak in different kinds of languages.

I may have the gift of prophecy {\cf2\super [93]} ; I may understand all the secret things \{of God\} and know everything; and I may have faith so great that I can move mountains. But even with all these things, if I don’t have love, then I am nothing.

These things will end, because this knowledge and these prophecies we have are not complete (not perfect).

Love is the thing you should try for. And you should truly want to have the spiritual gifts. And the gift you should want most is to be able to prophesy. {\cf2\super [95]}

So the person who refuses to obey this teaching is refusing to obey God, not man. And God is the One who gives you his Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [14]}

My dear friends, many false prophets {\cf2\super [14]} are in the world now. So don’t believe every spirit. But test the spirits to see if they are from God.
