But the men that had gone with him said, “We can’t fight those people! They are much stronger than we are.”


The people there are tall and strong. They are the Anakites. [56] You know about those people. You heard our spies say, ‘No person can win against the Anakites.’


People worshiped the giant snake because he had given his power to the animal. And the people also worshiped the animal. They asked, “Who is as powerful as the animal? Who can make war against him?”


But David said to Saul, “I, your servant, was taking care of my father’s sheep. A lion and a bear came and took a sheep from the flock.


Goliath looked at David {and laughed}. Goliath saw that David was only a handsome, red-faced [158] boy [159]


King Saul said, “Find out who that young man’s father is.”
