King David came to the Jordan River. The people of Judah came to Gilgal to meet the king and take him across the Jordan River.

“Go to Gilgal before me. Then I will come there to you. And I will offer burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. But you must wait seven days. Then I will come and tell you what to do.”


Samuel said to all Israel: “I have done everything you wanted me to do. I have put a king over you.


The next morning, the people of Ashdod got up and found Dagon lying face down on the ground. Dagon had fallen down before the Lord’s Box.


Samuel went from place to place judging the people of Israel. Every year he traveled around the country. He went to Bethel, Gilgal, and Mizpah. So he judged and ruled the people of Israel in all these places.
