1 Corinthians 12:12 - Easy To Read Version

12 A person’s body is only one thing, but it has many parts. Yes, there are many parts to a body, but all those parts make only one body. Christ is like that too:

(There is one loaf of bread. And we are many people. But we all share from that one loaf. So we are really one body.)


And so there are many parts, but only one body.


All of you together are the body of Christ. Each one of you is a part of that body.


Something from the Spirit can be seen in each person. The Spirit gives this to each person to help other people.


God made promises to Abraham {\cf2\super [35]} and his Descendant. {\cf2\super [36]} The Scripture does not say, “and to your descendants.” {\cf2\super [37]} (That would mean many people.) But it says, “and to your Descendant.” (That means only one person; that person is Christ.)


The church is Christ’s body. The church is filled with Christ. He makes everything complete in every way.


Christ gave those gifts to prepare God’s holy people {\cf2\super [34]} for the work of serving. He gave those gifts to make the body of Christ stronger.


There is one body and one Spirit. And God called you to have one hope.


The husband is the head of the wife, the same as Christ is the head of the church. The church is Christ’s body—Christ is the Savior of the body.


And don’t make the Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [36]} sad. The Spirit is God’s proof that you belong to God. God gave you that Spirit to show that God will make you free at the right time.


Christ is the head of the body. (The body is the church.) Everything comes from him. And he is the Lord {\cf2\super [5]} who was raised from death. So in all things Jesus is most important.


Those people don’t keep themselves under the control of the head (Christ). The whole body depends on Christ. Because of Christ all the parts of the body care for each other and help each other. This strengthens the body and holds it together. And so the body grows in the way God wants.


Let the peace that Christ gives control your thinking. You were all called together in one body {\cf2\super [19]} to have peace. Always be thankful.
