Say to the Lord,\par “Save us, God our Savior.\par Gather us together,\par and save us from the other nations.\par Then we can praise your holy name.\par Then we can praise you with our songs.”\par


Be proud of the Lord’s holy name.\par You people came looking for the Lord.\par Be happy!\par


Humble people, listen and be happy\par while I brag about the Lord.\par


You will throw them into the air,\par and the wind will blow them away\par and scatter them.\par Then you will be happy in the Lord.\par You will be very proud of the Holy One (God) of Israel.”\par


The Lord will help the people of Israel do good, and the people will be very proud of their God.


If you do those things,\par then you will be able to use my name\par to make a promise:\par You will be able to say,\par ‘As the Lord lives.’\par And you will be able to use those words\par in a truthful, honest, and right way.\par If you do these things, then the nations\par will be blessed by the Lord.\par They will brag about the things\par that the Lord has done.”\par


If Abraham was made right by the things he did, then he had a reason to boast. But Abraham could not boast before God.


Brothers and sisters, I have used Apollos and myself as examples for you in these things. I did this so that you could learn from us the meaning of the words, “Follow only what the Scriptures {\cf2\super [24]} say.” Then you will not be proud of one man and hate another.


But, “The person who boasts should boast in the Lord.” {\cf2\super [29]}


But we are the people who are truly circumcised. {\cf2\super [16]} We worship (serve) God through his Spirit. {\cf2\super [17]} We are proud to be in Christ Jesus. And we don’t trust in ourselves or anything we can do.
