“I am with you, and I will protect you every place you go. And I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I promised.”


[133] David sang this song at the time the Lord saved him from Saul and all his other enemies.


I have been with you every place you went. I have defeated your enemies for you. I will make you one of the most famous people on earth.


Then David put groups of soldiers in Damascus, Aram. The Arameans became David’s servants and brought tribute. [56] The Lord gave victory to David in every place he went.


David also took many, many things made of bronze from Tebah [57] and Berothai. (Tebah and Berothai were cities that had belonged to Hadadezer.)


So David became famous in all the countries. The Lord made all nations afraid of David.


Besides all those things, you let me know what will happen to my family in the future. You have treated me like a very important man.


Nathan answered David, “You may do what you want to do. God is with you.”


“Now, tell these things to my servant David: The Lord All-Powerful says, ‘I took you from the fields and from taking care of the sheep. I made you king of my people Israel.


I am giving this place to my people Israel. They will plant their trees, and they will sit in peace under those trees. They won’t be bothered anymore. Evil people won’t hurt them like they did at first.


Jerusalem has had powerful kings ruling over it and over the whole area west of the Euphrates River. Taxes and money to honor kings, and duty taxes have been paid to those kings.

God brought down rulers from their thrones,\par and he raised up the humble people.\par


The Lord was with David. So David was successful in everything.


Saul saw that the Lord was with David. Saul also saw that his daughter, Michal, loved David.


Surely as the Lord lives, the Lord himself will punish Saul. Maybe Saul will die naturally or maybe Saul will be killed in battle.
