And the Lord said to Abram: Go forth out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and out of thy father's house, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.


Wherefore a man shall leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they shall be two in one flesh.


And they came to Ophir: and they brought from thence to king Solomon four hundred and twenty talents of gold.


But he answered him: I will not go with thee, but I will return to my country, wherein I was born.


He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me.


And every one that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall possess life everlasting.


If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.


Wherefore henceforth, we know no man according to the flesh. And if we have known Christ according to the flesh; but now we know him so no longer.
