Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the ancients? For they wash not their hands when they eat bread.


Making void the word of God by your own tradition, which you have given forth. And many other such like things you do.


For leaving the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men, the washing of pots and of cups: and many other things you do like to these.


And he said to them: Well do you make void the commandment of God, that you may keep your own tradition.


Now they have heard of thee that thou teachest those Jews, who are among the Gentiles, to depart from Moses: saying, that they ought not to circumcise their children, nor walk according to the custom.


Take these, and sanctify thyself with them: and bestow on them, that they may shave their heads: and all will know that the things which they have heard of thee, are false; but that thou thyself also walkest keeping the law.


And might be the father of circumcision; not to them only, that are of the circumcision, but to them also that follow the steps of the faithful, that is in the uncircumcision of our father Abraham.


And I made progress in the Jews' religion above many of my equals in my own nation, being more abundantly zealous for the traditions of my fathers.


For we have heard there are some among you who walk disorderly, working not at all, but curiously meddling.


And we charge you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother walking disorderly, and not according to the tradition which they have received of us.
