And the king said to the man of God: Entreat the face of the Lord thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored to me. And the man of God besought the face of the Lord: and the king's hand was restored to him; and it became as it was before.


Thus saith the Lord God: Because the Philistines have taken vengeance and have revenged themselves with all their mind, destroying and satisfying old enmities:


Therefore thus saith the Lord God: In the fire of my zeal I have spoken of the rest of the nations, and of all Edom, who have taken my land to themselves, for an inheritance with joy, and with all the heart, and with the mind: and have cast it out to lay it waste.


But I say to you, Love your enemies: do good to them that hate you: and pray for them that persecute and calumniate you:


And Jesus said: Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. But they, dividing his garments, cast lots.


But I say to you that hear: Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you.


But love ye your enemies: do good, and lend, hoping for nothing thereby: and your reward shall be great, and you shall be the sons of the Highest; for he is kind to the unthankful, and to the evil.


And when there was an assault made by the Gentiles and the Jews with their rulers, to use them contumeliously, and to stone them:


Bless them that persecute you: bless, and curse not.


And we labour, working with our own hands: we are reviled, and we bless; we are persecuted, and we suffer it.


Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.


Not rendering evil for evil, nor railing for railing, but contrariwise, blessing: for unto this are you called, that you may inherit a blessing.
