The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven or from men? But they thought within themselves, saying:


The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men?


But if we say, Of men, the whole people will stone us: for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.


This is he, of whom I said: After me there cometh a man, who is preferred before me: because he was before me.


And I saw, and I gave testimony, that this is the Son of God.


And they came to John, and said to him: Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond the Jordan, to whom thou gavest testimony, behold he baptizeth, and all men come to him.


He that believeth in the Son, hath life everlasting; but he that believeth not the Son, shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.


And when John was fulfilling his course, he said: I am not he, whom you think me to be: but behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.
