Man knoweth not his own end: but as fishes are taken with the hook, and as birds are caught with the snare, so men are taken in the evil time, when it shall suddenly come upon them.


The princes of Tanis are become fools, the wise counsellors of Pharao have given foolish counsel. How will you say to Pharao: I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?


The princes of Tanis are become fools, the princes of Memphis are gone astray: they have deceived Egypt, the stay of the people thereof.


And they knew not till the flood came, and took them all away; so also shall the coming of the Son of man be.


The lord of that servant shall come in a day that he hopeth not, and at an hour that he knoweth not:


These are the words, which Moses spoke to all Israel beyond the Jordan, in the plain wilderness, over against the Red Sea, between Pharan and Thophel and Laban and Haseroth, where there is very much gold:


But all the rest of the army went in battle array on the north side, so that the last of that multitude reached to the west side of the city. So Josue went that night, and stood in the midst of the valley.


But Josue, and all Israel gave back, making as if they were afraid, and fleeing by the way of the wilderness.


But they shouting together, and encouraging one another, pursued them. And when they were come from the city,


But I and the rest of the multitude which is with me will approach on the contrary side against the city. And when they shall come out against us, we will flee, and turn our backs, as we did before:


And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you. Whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their perdition slumbereth not.


And they that were in ambush arose on a sudden out of their coverts, and whilst Benjamin turned their backs to the slayers, went into the city, and smote it with the edge of the sword.
