It is vain for you to rise before light, rise ye after you have sitten, you that eat the bread of sorrow. When he shall give sleep to his beloved,

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand the second time to possess the remnant of his people, which shall be left from the Assyrians, and from Egypt, and from Phetros, and from Ethiopia, and from Elam, and from Sennaar, and from Emath, and from the islands of the sea.


And that which shall be saved of the house of Juda and which is left shall take root downward and shall bear fruit upward.


It may be the Lord thy God will hear the words of Rabsaces, whom the king of the Assyrians his master hath sent to blaspheme the living God and to reproach with words which the Lord thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that is left.


Give praise, O ye heavens, for the Lord hath shewn mercy: shout with joy, ye ends of the earth: Ye mountains, resound with praise, thou, O forest, and every tree therein: for the Lord hath redeemed Jacob, and Israel shall be glorified.

And I will gather together the remnant of my flock out of all the lands into which I have cast them out. And I will make them return to their own fields: and they shall increase and be multiplied.


In very deed the hills were liars, and the multitude of the mountains: truly in the Lord our God is the salvation of Israel.


And they shall come and shall give praise in mount Sion: and they shall flow together to the good things of the Lord, for the corn and wine and oil and the increase of cattle and herds. And their soul shall be as a watered garden: and they shall be hungry no more.


Aleph. How doth the city sit solitary that was full of people! How is the mistress of the Gentiles become as a widow: the princes of provinces made tributary!


And I will leave in you some that shall escape the sword among the nations when I shall have scattered you through the countries.


And I will have mercy on the house of Juda, and I will save them by the Lord their God: and Iwill not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, nor by horses, nor by horsemen.


And it shall come to pass, that every one that shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved: for in mount Sion, and in Jerusalem shall be salvation, as the Lord hath said, and in the residue whom the Lord shall call.


Hate evil, and love good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be the Lord the God of hosts may have mercy on the remnant of Joseph.


I will assemble and gather together all of thee, O Jacob: I will bring together the remnant of Israel, I will put them together as a flock in the fold, as the sheep in the midst of the sheepcotes, they shall make a tumult by reason of the multitude of men.


Who is a God like to thee, who takest away iniquity, and passest by the sin of the remnant of thy inheritance? he will send his fury in no more, because he delighteth in mercy.

Even so then at this present time also, there is a remnant saved according to the election of grace.


And Isaias crieth out concerning Israel: If the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved.


And the Lord shall make thee the head and not the tail: and thou shalt be always above, and not beneath. Yet so if thou wilt hear the commandments of the Lord thy God which I command thee this day, and keep and do them.


Praise his people, ye nations; for he will revenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to their enemies: and he will be merciful to the land of his people.
