Because he broke in and stripped the poor: he hath violently taken away a house which he did not build:


In the Lord I put my trust: how then do you say to my soul, Get thee away from hence to the mountain like a sparrow?


For the Lord is just and hath loved justice: his countenance hath beheld righteousness.


lest at any time my enemy say: I have prevailed against him. They that trouble me will rejoice when I am moved:


He that oppresseth the poor, upbraideth his Maker: but he that hath pity on the poor, honoureth him.


He that despiseth the poor, reproacheth his Maker; and he that rejoiceth at another man's ruin, shall not be unpunished.


The poor will speak with supplications, and the rich will speak roughly.


He that oppresseth the poor, to increase his own riches, shall himself give to one that is richer, and shall be in need.


The rich ruleth over the poor: and the borrower is servant to him that lendeth.


Moreover there is the king that reigneth over all the land subject to him.


Despised and the most abject of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with infirmity: and his look was as it were hidden and despised. Whereupon we esteemed him not.


Hear this word, ye fat kine that are in the mountains of Samaria: you that oppress the needy, and crush the poor: that say to your masters: Bring, and we will drink.

And you have respect to him that is clothed with the fine apparel, and shall say to him: Sit thou here well; but say to the poor man: Stand thou there, or sit under my footstool:


Behold the hire of the labourers, who have reaped down your fields, which by fraud has been kept back by you, crieth: and the cry of them hath entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.


You have condemned and put to death the Just One, and he resisted you not.
