My Lord, hear us: Thou art a prince of God among us. Bury thy dead in our principle sepulchres: and no man shall have power to hinder thee from burying thy dead in his sepulchre.


Said: Give me of this red pottage, for I am exceeding faint. For which reason his name was called Edom.


And let peoples serve thee, and tribes worship thee. Be thou lord of thy brethren, and let thy mother's children bow down before thee. Cursed be he that curseth thee: and let him that blesseth thee be filled with blessings.


Isaac answered: I have appointed him thy lord, and have made all his brethren his servants. I have established him with corn and wine, and after this, what shall I do more for thee, my son?


And in this manner have I served thee in thy house twenty years; fourteen for thy daughters, and six for thy flocks: thou hast changed also my wages ten times.


Thou shalt answer: Thy servant Jacob's: he hath sent them as a present to my lord Esau: and he cometh after us.


I have oxen, and asses, and sheep, and men-servants, and women-servants: and now I send a message to my lord, that I may find favor in thy sight.


May it please my lord to go before his servant: and I will follow softly after him, as I shall see my children to be able, until I come to my lord in Seir.


And Esau said: What are the droves that I met? He answered: That I might find favor before my lord.


And Esau dwelt in mount Seir: he is Edom.


And these are the generations of Esau the father of Edom in mount Seir.


If thou do well, shalt thou not receive? But if ill, shall not sin forthwith be present at the door? But the lust thereof shall be under thee, and thou shalt have dominion over it.


So they girded sackcloth on their loins, and put ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel, and said to him: Thy servant Benadad saith: I beseech thee let me have my life. And he said: If he be yet alive he is my brother.


And he answered him: Let not my lord be offended: for thou knowest this people, that they are prone to evil.


A mild answer breaketh wrath: but a harsh word stirreth up fury.

If the spirit of him that hath power, ascend upon thee, leave not thy place: because care will make the greatest sins to cease.


The burden of Duma calleth to me out of Seir: Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?


Because every one that exalteth himself, shall be humbled; and he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted.


As Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters you are, doing well, and not fearing any disturbance.
