In the beginning God created heaven, and earth.


And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters, he called Seas. And God saw that it was good.


These are the generations of the heaven and the earth, when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the heaven and the earth:


And he prayed in his sight, saying: O Lord God of Israel, who sitteth upon the cherubims, thou alone art the God of all the kings of the earth. Thou madest heaven and earth.


And he added, saying: Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel, who made heaven and earth, who hath given to king David a wise and knowing son, endued with understanding and prudence, to build a house to the Lord, and a palace for himself.


Thou thyself, O Lord alone, thou hast made heaven, and the heaven of heavens, and all the host thereof: the earth and all things that are in it: the seas and all that are therein. And thou givest life to all these things, and the host of heaven adoreth thee.


Who is ignorant that the hand of the Lord hath made all these things?


Sing to him, yea sing praises to him: relate all his wondrous works.


The Lord lifteth up the meek, and bringeth the wicked down even to the ground.


Come ye to him and be enlightened: and your faces shall not be confounded.


O taste, and see that the Lord is sweet: blessed is the man that hopeth in him.


For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and the sea, and all things that are in them, and rested on the seventh day: therefore the Lord blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it.


Between me and the children of Israel, and a perpetual sign. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth: and in the seventh he ceased from work.


And all the host of the heavens shall pine away, and the heavens shall be folded together as a book: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth from the vine and from the fig-tree.


Thus saith the Lord God that created the heavens and stretched them out: that established the earth and the things that spring out of it: that giveth breath to the people upon it, and spirit to them that tread thereon.


I made the earth: and I created man upon it. My hand stretched forth the heavens: and I have commanded all their host.


For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens, God himself that formed the earth and made it, the very maker thereof, he did not create it in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is no other.


My hand also hath founded the earth, and my right hand hath measured the heavens: I shall call them, and they shall stand together.


For as the heavens are exalted above the earth, so are my ways exalted above your ways, and my thoughts above your thoughts.


For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former things shall not be in remembrance, and they shall not come upon the heart.


He that maketh the earth by his power, that prepareth the world by his wisdom and stretcheth out the heavens by his knowledge:


The portion of Jacob is not like these: for it is he who formed all things and Israel is the rod of his inheritance. The Lord of hosts is his name.


And they shall spread them abroad to the sun and the moon and all the host of heaven, whom they have loved and whom they have served and after whom they have walked, and whom they have sought and adored. They shall not be gathered, and they shall not be buried: they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth.


The burden of the word of the Lord upon Israel. Thus saith the Lord, who stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundations of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man in him:


And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army, praising God, and saying:


Who having heard it, with one accord lifted up their voice to God, and said: Lord, thou art he that didst make heaven and earth, the sea, and all things that are in them.


And God turned, and gave them up to serve the host of heaven, as it is written in the books of the prophets: Did you offer victims and sacrifices to me for forty years, in the desert, O house of Israel?


So as to go and serve strange gods, and adore them, the sun and the moon, and all the host of heaven, which I have not commanded:


Lest perhaps lifting up thy eyes to heaven thou see the sun and the moon, and all the stars of heaven, and being deceived by error thou adore and serve them, which the Lord thy God created for the service of all the nations, that are under heaven.


For we, who have believed, shall enter into rest; as he said: As I have sworn in my wrath; If they shall enter into my rest; and this indeed when the works from the foundation of the world were finished.
