A vain man is lifted up into pride, and thinketh himself born free like a wild ass's colt.


For thou writest bitter things against me, and wilt consume me for the sins of my youth.


His bones shall be filled with the vices of his youth: and they shall sleep with him in the dust.


That I may hear the voice of thy praise: and tell of all thy wondrous works.


Blessed is the man whose trust is in the name of the Lord; and who hath not had regard to vanities, and lying follies.


Thou hast multiplied thy wonderful works, O Lord my God: and in thy thoughts there is no one like to thee. I have declared and I have spoken they are multiplied above number.


Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, and the rod of correction shall drive it away.


I have seen all things that are done under the sun, and behold all is vanity, and vexation of spirit.


Vanity of vanities, said Ecclesiastes vanity of vanities, and all is vanity.


Remember thy Creator in the days of thy youth, before the time of affliction come, and the years draw nigh of which thou shalt say: They please me not:


Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of the flesh and of the spirit, perfecting sanctification in the fear of God.


But flee thou youthful desires, and pursue justice, faith, charity, and peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
