So Pharaoh said to Joseph, ‘Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one as discerning and wise as you are.


I, in turn, will laugh at your calamity. I will mock when terror strikes you,


The wicked are overthrown and perish, but the house of the righteous will stand.


Better to be disregarded, yet have a servant, than to act important but have no food.


An unjust person is detestable to the righteous, and one whose way is upright is detestable to the wicked.


The wise will inherit honour, but he holds up fools to dishonour.


He will die because there is no discipline, and be lost because of his great stupidity.


Who is like the wise person, and who knows the interpretation of a matter? A person’s wisdom brightens his face, and the sternness of his face is changed.


The Lord has mixed within her a spirit of confusion. The leaders have made Egypt stagger in all she does, as a drunkard staggers in his vomit.


Many who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to eternal life, and some to disgrace and eternal contempt.


‘The master praised the unrighteous manager   because he had acted shrewdly. For the children of this age   are more shrewd than the children of light   in dealing with their own people.


At once an angel of the Lord  struck him because he did not give the glory to God, and he was eaten by worms and died.


So don’t judge  anything prematurely, before the Lord comes,  who will both bring to light what is hidden in darkness and reveal the intentions of the hearts. And then praise will come to each one from God.


For it is not the one commending himself who is approved, but the one the Lord commends.


Samuel said to Saul, ‘You have been foolish.  You have not kept the command the Lord your God gave you.  It was at this time that the Lord would have permanently established your reign over Israel,


One of the young men answered, ‘I have seen a son of Jesse of Bethlehem who knows how to play the lyre. He is also a valiant man,  a warrior, eloquent, handsome, and the Lord is with him.’

Now consider carefully  what you should do, because there is certain to be trouble for our master and his entire family. He is such a worthless fool nobody can talk to him! ’
