Dreadful sounds fill his ears; when he is at peace, a robber attacks him.


For the thing I feared has overtaken me, and what I dreaded has happened to me.


I, in turn, will laugh at your calamity. I will mock when terror strikes you,


when terror strikes you like a storm and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when trouble and stress overcome you.


The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable to the  Lord, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.


So I will choose their punishment, and I will bring on them what they dread because I called and no one answered; I spoke and they did not listen; they did what was evil in my sight and chose what I did not delight in.


You fear the sword,  so I will bring the sword against you.  This is the declaration of the Lord God.


All this happened to King Nebuchadnezzar.


Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.


‘I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you.


Until now you have asked for nothing in my name.   Ask and you will receive,   so that your joy may be complete.


but a terrifying expectation of judgement and the fury of a fire about to consume the adversaries.
