How will it be known that I and your people have found favour with you unless you go with us? I and your people will be distinguished by this from all the other people on the face of the earth.’


One who isolates himself pursues selfish desires; he rebels against all sound wisdom.


But they replied, ‘We do not drink wine, for Jonadab,  son of our ancestor Rechab, commanded, “You and your descendants must never drink wine.


You are to be holy to me because I, the Lord, am holy, and I have set you apart from the nations to be mine.

‘When a woman in her father’s house during her youth makes a vow to the Lord or puts herself under an obligation,


For he will be great in the sight of the Lord and will never drink wine or beer.  He will be filled with the Holy Spirit  while still in his mother’s womb.

he told her the whole truth and said to her, ‘My hair has never been cut,  because I am a Nazirite  to God from birth. If I am shaved, my strength will leave me, and I will become weak and be like any other man.’


I now give the boy to the Lord. For as long as he lives, he is given to the Lord.’  Then he  worshipped the Lord there.
